Chapter 4

When I walked in, I was startled by the sight of the boss. It was unlike anything I had ever seen any human go through. She was letting out screams of agony as her neck twisted and stretched, her stomach flipped inside out, her head crushed, her legs and arms bending backwards, etc. It hurt to watch her in this much pain and not be able to do anything about it, after all we had been through. I looked over at Viola and I knew she was thinking the same. Then the boss passed out

Viola started towards her and kneeled down. She began singing softly to her, running her fingers through her hair gently, and I knew that she didn't know what else to do. I didn't either, so I stepped forward and sang along with her.

When she woke up hours later, the crew was still there, watching her. Viola and I were still kneeling next to her, but no longer singing. We gave the boss a giant surprise hug. She looked at us in bewilderment. "What was that for? Where am I? I feel like I have a hangover. Can I go to bed?" We laughed in relief.

"Boss, what do you feel? What did you see back there? Is there anything new about you? Can you do anything that you couldn't do before?" Kinzie wouldn't stop nagging the boss about what had happened. "Kinzie, shut up!" I finally shouted from across the room. "That mousey voice is getting annoying, please dear lord, somebody keep her quiet," Viola added. She pouted and stormed off. I high-fived Viola.

Finally the boss came back to her senses and agreed to whatever tests Kinzie was going to do. We were all pretty interested, even for Kinzie's work. She promised that she had been working hard on studying the alien technology and we would be able to see everything.

We were all waiting eagerly. Then, Kinzie pushed some sort of button. I couldn't tell if something was going right or if something was going wrong, but the boss, who was standing in a different room than us for hers and our safety, was absorbed by some sort of salmon coloured ring shaped like the data clusters. It came up from the ground, emitted several rings that went around the shape in a spiral motion, stayed up there for maybe.... six seconds, and then went back down into the ground.

The crew stood around the cameras with restlessness waiting for the boss to appear, or at least for something to happen. After about a minute of just standing, staring, the same pink.. salmon swirly thing appeared, this time stayed for only half the time. It was the boss! We were all amazed at this newfound advanced technology.

Now to see what the boss could do.
