"Shaundi," the boss called, waving a finger at me, signaling to come over to her. "So.. You know how Pierce had that nightmare about Paul or whatever?" I nodded. I thought I knew where this was going... and I was right! "Soon, I'll be going into a simulation just like that... Except it won't be like that, it'll be whatever your greatest nightmare is. Same concept, pretty much."
When she said soon, she meant it. A short 30 minutes later, it was time. I was scared. I knew it was gonna be about Johnny. Well of course I knew, it was my biggest nightmare. They strapped me into the... what should I call it? Um... the simulation-entering device thing? Ah, I know! The animus, because Assassin's Creed. So the boss and I were strapped into the animus and sent away into my nightmare simulation.
When the PST fell back into the ground, I was crouching over Johnny's dead body. I was unaware of what I was saying until I snapped back to my senses. "Johnny, I miss you. People say it's not my fault, but you would stlil be alive if we had come back for you. It really is my fault." The memories started to flow back and the tears began dripping down to the carpet. "I'm so sorry, Johnny..."
I felt a twitch. It wasn't coming from me. I looked up slowly in a mixture of fear and joy. Everything that happened next was a blur. Johnny, his face covered in blood, lunged at me. Luckily enough, I had a pocket knife and I stabbed him, or whatever he had become. It was the hardest thing I'd ever done in my life, even if it was a simulation.
I'm not sure of what happened next. All I remember was hearing Zinyak's voice. I was too busy drowning in sorrow to pay attention to what he had to say. Next thing I knew, I was being sucked out of the bottom of the plane by an eerie green light. It was a repeat of what happened that night, slightly altered. I was falling to my death. The last thing I had heard was, "Shaundi!"
Again, not sure what happened while I was descending oh so gracefully through the air, but all I knew was that it was the end... But a new beginning.
