The Final Battle

I walked into Viola's room in hopes of cheering her up. "Hey Vi," I began at a whisper, unsure if she was awake. But when I saw Matt in her bed I really didn't care. "Viola! Matt! What the hell! Did you...?" They both suddenly woke up, scared and confused. "What? No!!" Matt replied anxiously, clearly scared of me. Ha. He should be. That guy needs to stop trying to get into her pants, especially at a time like this. "Oh. Okay. Good. I guess." I said awkwardly as I sat down on the foot of her bed. "So. How're you doing Vi?" I asked, completely ignoring Matt. "Terrible," she muttered into her pillow, voice muffled. "I know, honey," I said as I reached up and gently caressed her cheek. And I did. My own sister had drowned when we were swimming in the lake at around 8 years old. And I still miss her. I wanted to tell her that it'd be okay, but it really wouldn't.

Luckily I didn't have to say anything to her, because Kinzie walked in as if on cue saying, "I found Zinyak." We all simply stared up at her, not really fully comprehending what she had said. "Well let's go," Matt said.

We had a plan worked out. Well, it wasn't much of a plan. We were to sneak around the back of the building, trying to avoid getting caught by zin as we go, since he didn't know we had found him yet. Basically, as soon as we saw Zinyak, we just wing it. It's not like killing Zinyak would make anything go back to normal, but it would put an end to the constant chaos.

All of the saints were gathered up on the main part of the ship fully armed and ready to fight to the death. I looked around sadly, knowing this would probably be the last time I would see some of these people. Matt had told Juliet that he didn't want to be with her anymore, and the only reason she was here at all was because she was Matt's girlfriend. Now she just kind of sits in the corner and glares at everybody, occasionally getting up to get food or use the restroom.

Matt and Viola sat on the floor together, having what looked like a serious conversation. Kinzie and Pierce were also sitting with each other, but were instead just staring into each others' eyes. Ew. Johnny and I found our way to each other and reminiscenced. I had always kind of liked him. He liked me too, but we both agreed things would get weird if things were taken any further.

We were there. We were outside the zin ship. We silently got closer to the zin ship, hoping none of them would hear us. It'd be pretty bad if they did. We didn't have the numbers or the fire power for that. One by one, we all filed off of the ship. I went last, and looked over them all for the last time with a heavy heart. I sighed as we all ran crouched pretty much the whole way down the long, narrow hallways. We silently slit the throats of a few zin standing guard as we made our way to the main area where Kinzie thinks Zinkay would be.

Finally we made our way to a large, circular area, with a high ceiling. Zinyak was sitting in the middle, sleeping, but still with a smug look on his face. God, I couldn't wait to kill that bastard after all he's done.

I took a deep breath, and after getting approval from the rest of the Saints, I took the first shot. It was a direct hit to the head. But, of course, him being a giant alien and me being a puny human with a puny pistol, it did nothing. He woke up chuckling and sighed. "Oh, Shaundi dearest. You really didn't think that you'd actually do anything to me with that pathetic thing, did you? Hm. And here I thought you were the smarter of the lot." "Shit," I muttered under my breath, and took cover. And there the battle began. Zin piled out from rooms on the sides that I hadn't even seen, shooting at us from all angles.

Johnny got shot. "Johnny!" I screamed. "Don't you worry about me, Shaundi," he called back, panting. "I've been through worse, you know it." I shook my head at him. God, what an idiot.

We cleared through waves and waves of the zin until finally, they were all dead and we were all worn out. The only one left was Zinyak. He slowly rose. "I was hoping I wouldn't have to deal with you all today." He turned around swiftly and grabbed the boss by the front of her shirt. He slammed her down, and I gasped as I saw the bones in her neck jutt out of her skin. One down.

We all shot at him, are bullets doing very little to damage him, but if was better than the zins' guns, which just bounced off of him. The battle went on for hours, until he finally fell to the floor. I dropped my gun, and strode over to his body. Finally, he was dead. It was over.

Or so I thought.

He grabbed my foot suddenly. I was unarmed. He pushed me into the ground, crushing me silently. No one noticed yet, they were all talking amongst themselves, mourning the loss of the boss and several other of the less well known Saints. Viola and Matt were together again. I somehow was able to push him off of me for half a second while I reached for a zin gun and drove it into his skull, actually killing him.

"Viola," I managed to cough out weakly. She snapped her head around, seeing me for the first time as I bled to death on the cold, hard floor of the Zin spaceship. All of the remaining Saints gathered around me, frantically trying to figure out a way to patch me up. "Don't," I choked. "I'm gonna die, guys. Let me say my goodbyes." My eyes were uncontrollably streaming. "Johnny," I beckoned for him as he crawled over to me, clutching the gunwound at his side. This was the first time I had actualy seen him cry. "Johnny, I love you. I always have, and I want you to know that I'll be watching over you if there is a Heaven. Or a Hell," I chuckled, and coughed again. Ouch. That hurt. "Viola, you're my best friend. You've always been there for me. Helping me with jobs, getting me in trouble." "I'm gonna miss you so fucking much Shaundi," she said, tears falling onto my face and mixing with my own. I could only say goodbye to those two people before my vision went blurry and my eyes closed for the last time.
