The darkness within her (based loosely on comic book canon)

The berserker rage ran wild within Sif's veins. Her body stronger than before, her sword feeling the need for blood, her hands longing for violence. Her skin pricked with heat, her lips curled into a smirk and her eyes alight with darkness. She breathed heavy as she eyed the city below her, the milling civilians, innocent and unknowing of this warrior's thirst for their pain. She exited the palace, her scarlet cloak billowing behind almost like a flame.

"LADY SIF!" Bellowed a voice filled with anger and hurt. She turned slowly and saw the large outline of Volstagg, bounding towards her a look of thunder marked on his face.

"How could thee dost such a dark act?" He spat at her as he drew closer. "My own daughter?! Thou hast caused her much pain and blood loss!"

She smirked at his comments, satisfied with herself. He stretched out his hand for her throat as he finally reached, she withdrew her sword so fast he was unsuccessful, she kicked him in the gut and knocked him off his feet. He looked up at her scared.

"My Lady, thou art ill...look at thy eyes!" She caught a reflection of herself. Her eyes were black, small black lines formed around the edges of her eyelids. She blinked and they went back to normal.

"Ye art wrong. I am stronger than ever. I wilt not be weakened again." She turned and a cold empty laugh came from her lips. Volstagg knew her reign of terror needed to be stopped, even if it meant destroying her for good.

The darkened warrior maiden had traipsed across the rainbow road, her scarlet boots striding with confidence. She felt no remorse for the actions she had undertaken, she only felt a great surge of power, one that would lead her to victory. The golden observatory stood grandly in the distance, her exit from this realm was nigh, the anticipation sent shivers along her fair skin. New realms, new triumphs.

"Sister." Heimdall spoke quietly as she entered, his golden eyes fixed onto her blue, following her as she stopped before him.

"Brother." She greeted coldly. There was a frosty silence as the pair didn't break eye contact, Sif eventually grew frustrated. "Art thou going unto open the Bifrost unto me or not?" She raised her tone to him.

"I know what thou plan unto dost, I can not put the lives of innocent people at risk for thy own selfish ends. I wilt not open the gateway." He remained calm, as was his job, but a hint of terror flickered in his eyes. She snarled and withdrew her sword, raising it towards him.

"I demand thee unto open the Bifrost and allow me passage!" Heimdall stood firm against her, he slowly raised his own sword as if to obey but whilst she looked towards the area where the portal would open, he attacked. He swung his sword around, striking the armour that covered her shoulders, causing her to stumble slightly. Rage covered her features and yet again her eyes turned black.

"Thou dare challenge me brother!" She lunged forwards with her sword, their metal clashing, their parry equal in strength.

"I do not wish unto harm thee...but I shalt if thou dost not give in." He warned in-between breaths as he attempted to shake her from him.

"Brother, thou can not harm me, ye were never my equal." She smirked as she pulled back, leaving herself open. She dropped her sword and threw her arms out wide. "Please, do have a shot, on me." Her eyes watched him with anticipation. He stood flustered for just a moment, unsure of his next move. He raised his golden weapon and charged forwards, aiming for her torso. There was a tearing sound and both of them gasped. Their eyes glazed over but only one fell to the ground.

"Volstagg..." Fandral and Hogun hurried to their friend, who was still on the ground in shock. They helped him to his feet and brushed off the dust from his attire.

"She is worse my friends. We have nay choice..." The three of them shared a pained look, neither of them wished for this to be the case but they could not let Sif continue. She was harming herself and those around her.

"So be it..." Fandral nodded once and led the group down the rainbow road. All of their faces were pale as they entered the observatory, expecting to find Heimdall stood in his normal place. But he was absent, instead there stood Sif, watching the swirling vortex ahead of her.

"Fandral, Hogun..." Volstagg whispered intently into their ears as he pointed at a slumped figure in the corner. Heimdall lay curled over, his eyes closed and a pool of blood gathered around him, Sif's sword lay just ahead of him. At once the three of them looked back to their crimson friend and found one small dagger, dripping with blood in her hand.

"My fair Sif..." Fandral stepped forwards, his normally exuberant demeanour gone, replaced with a grim and ever so slightly frightened one. She looked to him and her lips curled into a smirk once more, her face cold and empty.

"Hast thou come unto stop me?" She slowly stepped down from the altar and towards the portal. "I wouldn't try...unless ye wish unto end up like my dearest brother." Her voice was strong, no tone of guilt to be heard. This sent shivers through the warriors three.

"Let us help thee...ye art unwell." Fandral pleaded.

"Unwell? Oh nay, quite the contrary, I have never been healthier, stronger. I am far from unwell." Volstagg and Hogun had rushed over to collect Heimdall, this action caught Sif's attention and she growled at them.

"Leave him! I demand of thee unto let him perish!" These words were the final straw for Fandral, Sif would never wish her brother to die, not in her right mind. He restrained her from behind as his companions carried Heimdall away.

"I shalt meet the in the healing bay!" He called as she struggled against Sif's movements. She broke free at last and thrust her elbow back into his face.

"Thou think ye art a match for me my dearest Fandral? Well let us see." She swung her leg around and it collided with his face, knocking him to the ground, she stood on his neck and bent down with her dagger and slid it across his neck.

"I could easily paint this floor red with thy blood my friend." A cunning smile appeared on her face just as a smile appeared on his.

"Thou could...or..." He took ahold of her ankle and with a swift twisting movement he was able knocked her off her feet and land on top of her. "...I could do the same unto thee." She laughed as he straddled her, pinning her to the floor, his own dagger pressed to her neck.

"Ye think thou art so clever..." She heckled as she thrust her knee upwards and caught him in-between his legs. He rolled off of her grunting and coughing in pain, clutching his crotch.

"Uncalled for..." He wheezed.

She stood and readjusted her cloak, fetching her sword.

"If thou wilt excuse me, Midgard is calling me." She walked slowly towards the gateway, her sword at her side. "Sif....please..." He slowly stood from the floor, his cheeks still flushed. Her dark eyes cleared but they did not harbour any warmth.

"Nay.." She turned away, about to take one last step into the Bifrost when a searing pain flooded her senses, the shining metal of a blade met her gaze as she looked down. She fell backwards against Fandral, who had run her through, he slowly removed his blade from her body and caught her in his arms as she bled.

"I am sorry..." He spoke quietly, collapsing to the floor with her body held tightly to him, he rocked her as her breathing became shallow. "Twas for thy own good." He whispered as he rested his forehead against hers, her blood soaking into his emerald attire, his hands stained. She closed her eyes, her last vision was his sorrow filled face.
