Lexi.

"Order nineteen your food is ready!" I heard the cashier say as she hurried everyone out with their food.

"I'll go get it," Mark said with a gentle smile and I just nodded.

As soon as he walked away the girls gave me a little too excited look.

"What's your problem Lex?" Syd said while throwing her hands up in the air.

"Excuse me? What are you talking about," I said with a laugh and she just glared at me.

"Mark obviously likes you Lexi," Amanda chimed in and I just shook my head.

"No he doesn't, we're just friends and I've made that pretty clear to him," I said sternly and they all looked at Liam.

"What? Don't look at me. Lexi over here has turned him down many times, so I did my part in just watching," he said holding his hands up and I nodded.

"You did what!" Em said and I gave her a shocked look.

"It's true, I've turned him down, and I'm just playing it off until he actually gets the memo. I just want to be friends," I clarified and they just shook their heads.

"Why would you turn him down? He's the captain of the football team, and every girl would kill to be in your position," Amanda said and I shook my head.

"Well then they can have him because I don't want any part of that," I said and that shut them up.

"Look I think the reason why Lex is avoiding the idea of dating Mark is because she doesn't want him to be her first actual boyfriend," Brian said and I glared at him.

"That is not a reason, and he wouldn't be my first boyfriend you idiot," I scoffed and he just laughed.

"Well then what's the actual reason," Chase said and I just shrugged.

"I don't know but I just know I don't want to be with-" I was cut off when Mark placed our food in front of us.

"Don't want to be with what?" He questioned while sitting down next to me.

"Nothing," I said with a shy smile and he nodded.

"Lexi was just telling us how she didn't want to be with the losers today if they lose their game tonight," Emma lied and I was somewhat glad that she said that, but then again, I wasn't.

"Lex? You didn't tell me about your game tonight," Mark said and I accidentally choked on my drink.

"Oh um I must've forgotten," I said while tucking a piece of my hair behind my ear.

"Well now that I know, I can go support you," he said as he put his arm around me.

"Great," I said and tried scooting away from him.

This was bound to be a long night.

"Thirty seconds left on the clock! Your West Shore Blue Devils are tied! If Alexis Rivera is able to make this last shot we win!"

My heart start pounding as I made my way back onto the field since our opposing team called a timeout. I was only a few feet from the goal, my palms were sweating and my ears filled with the crowd cheering.

In a matter of seconds I felt my instincts start to take over rapidly as I heard the final whistle blow. In a blink of an eye, I did it.

"And your winners for the last game of the season The Blue Devils!"

The whole crowd started cheering and I was crushed into a gigantic group hug from my team.

"Lex you absolutely crushed it! No wonder Stanford wants you so bad!" Amanda said and pulled me away from everyone as they said how well the game went.

"Ah Lex you badass!" Emma screamed and jumped into my arms like she did when we were kids.

"Okay Em you aren't that light anymore," I teased and she jumped off.

"Lexi that was amazing!" Mark said and took me in for a hug.

"Thanks," I said with a smile.

"Baby Lex still got it!" Liam said and threw me over his shoulder.

"Hey asshole put me down," I teased and he laughed.

"Okay how about we celebrate? Dinner on me!" Mark said and we all nodded.

"Let's go!" Chase said and I already knew he was craving a burger.

"Yeah I'll catch up with you guys I have to go grab my bag," I said and they nodded.

"Text me the address," I said as I ran back to the team bleachers.

As I grabbed my bag I took a step back and accidentally bumped into someone.

"Oh my gosh sorry I'm really clumsy," I said and turned around to see, the one and only, Mr. Mendes.

"Oh no my apologies Ms. Rivera," he said with a gentle smile which sent butterflies in my stomach.

Oh snap out of it Lex!

"Nice play out there," he said while rubbing the back of his neck.

"Oh um thanks. I didn't really take you for a sports guy," I said and he smiled.

"And I didn't take you for a sports girl," he said and I laughed.

"Well now you know one thing about me Mr. Mendes," I said and he nodded.

"I suppose so, but I was looking for something more in depth," he said with a smirk and I nodded.

"Okay, well I wish you good luck, but for now I should really catch up to my friends. Celebratory dinner," I said awkwardly while walking away slightly.

"Of course. Have a good night Ms. Rivera," he said while waving a small goodbye.

"Same to you," I said and turned around to run back to the cars.

Well wasn't that interesting?
