Mr. Mendes

Awkward Dinner.

Lexi.

"Is there anything else I could get anyone?" Our waitress asked and we all shook our heads.

"No thank you that's all," Mark said politely, and I could see the waitress' cheeks turn red.

"So Lexi, how come you ran so late?" Brian asked me and I just shook my head.

"I wasn't that late only by a few minutes," I said and he just laughed.

"Yeah right Lex, Syd and I saw you talking to Mr. Mendes and the way you were flirting with him," he said and my cheeks starting turning red.

"Oh please you are out of your mind. I was just being nice to our new teacher okay?" I said and they just nodded.

"And besides guys, he has a girlfriend," Sydney said and I nodded in agreement.

"Wait how did you know this?" I asked realizing that he never mentioned such thing in class.

"I asked him," she said and I laughed.

"Syd why would you ask our teacher that?" I said still full of laughter.

"I was curious," she shrugged and took a sip of her drink.

"Yeah okay well speak of the devil, or should I say devils," Amanda said and I saw her pointing behind us.

"What are you-" I was cut off when I turned around to see Mr. Mendes sitting at a table diagonal from us.

"That's his girlfriend," I choked out and I suddenly felt a weird feeling bubble up in my stomach.

"Wow not only is he good looking but so is she," Liam said and Amanda just slapped his chest.

"How on earth could he get a girl like that?" Chase said and from the corner of my eye I could just see Emma glaring at him.

"Hey, Lex are you okay?" I heard Mark say as he gently brushed his hand against mine.

"Um sorry what?" I said caught off guard and I still found myself staring at Mr. Mendes and his date.

Oh shit!

I turned back around fast and I saw Amanda's jaw drop.

"Holy shit Lex! He just waved at you!" Amanda said too loud that I'm pretty sure the next building heard her.

"Shut up Amanda," I guessed and then felt a sudden tap on my shoulder.

"Hello guys," I heard Mr. Mendes' voice on the back of my neck as I sat there frozen.

"Hi Mr. Mendes," Em said and I could feel her eyes on me.

"Well I just wanted to say hello and that I look forward to spending the rest of the year with all of you," he said and my stomach started turning rapidly.

"Right, Mr. Mendes, and we all look forward to that, don't we Lex," I heard Liam say and I could sense him smirking.

"Um of course," I mumbled and finally had the courage to turn around and look at him.

"Good and I expect to get to know all of you fully," he said and winked at me.

"Well I should return to my date, have a good evening everyone...bye Ms. Rivera," he said and brushed his hand against my shoulder before walking away.

"Oh my fucking god! What the hell was that!" Chase said which caused everyone except me to laugh.

"Looks like someone has a crush on Lexi over here," Emma snickered and I glared at her.

"Dude he's on a date you're still on that!" I raised my voice a little so that only us could hear.

"Well of course he may have said goodbye to all of us, but he more specifically pointed out your name nimrod," Liam snapped and I shook my head.

"Yeah okay, well I'm going to use the restroom, so hopefully you all learn to grow up by then," I said and rose from my seat.

"Good luck, you'll have to pass Mr. Mendes and his date to use the restroom," Brian said and I flipped him off.

"Be back in a second," I said and walked towards the restroom.

As I passed Mr. Mendes' table I could feel his eyes watching me while his date was trying to talk to him. I had the strangest feeling when I was near him.

What the hell is happening to me?

I didn't make any eye contact, because I think that if I did, I would've died. Like I would be completely sprawled out onto the floor dead.

Oh how I just want this dinner to be over already.

"Hey Lex there's this party at my brothers' friends house, you in?" Amanda said and I just shook my head.

"No can do babe, we have to get back home or our moms will kill us," Liam said while wrapping his jacket around me.

Oh how I wish he was my actual brother.

"Seriously? Come one you've always been the party type of gal," Emma said and I shook my head again.

"Seriously Em, we can't, but you guys go and fill us in," I said and she nodded.

"Okay drive safe guys see you Monday," she said and walked off to her car while everyone else followed.

"Now I guess it's just you and me Lex," Liam said and I smiled.

"Yay just how I always wanted it to be," I said sarcastically as we got into my car.

"Oh come on Lex you're like my little sister, and little sisters usually want to hang out with their brothers," he said with a smirk.

"Hah! Well you thought wrong," I teased and he just laughed.

I pulled out of the parking lot and drove home, wanting to forget everything that happened tonight with Mr. Mendes.
