Memories of Midnight

Part 11 *Vixen*

I felt a small nudge on my shoulder as I got up and rubbed my eyes. As I looked up my mom's frail face was the first thing I saw. I gave her a small smile and then her face fell down in fear.

"Ashley, what on earth did you do to yourself?!"

I stood confused and then walked over to y mom's dresser. My reflection stared back at me and I quietly gasped. There in the mirror before me was me, but things had changed again. My yellow eyes were now a bright glowing red. Memories started flooding my mind again.

~Instead my head...~

A tall woman stood above me. She had glowing dark blood red eyes. Then the dimmed to a dark clouded grey.

~Back in reality...~

That woman was a wolf spirit, an alpha to be exact. I looked back at my mom sadly. She was staring at me with fear.

"Mom, I'm so sorry. I never should have ran off. Please forgive me."

I started walking towards her when she suddenly started screaming then hunched over in her chair. She wasn't moving until she slowly sat back up. I looked at her worried then I noticed a glare near her dress. A gear was laying beside her ankle and that's when I realized that she was fake. An android built to resemble her. I stood still, listening, until I heard the "caregiver" talking to someone. The moment the person started talking I caught Nate's scent.

~"Are you sure she's here?"~

~"I'm positive sir."~

~"Does she fit the description?"~

~"Yes, haunting red eyes and everything."~

I quickly grabbed a few supplies before opening up the window. Just before I jumped out I looked back towards my "mother". She was still holding the authentic old picture of me. I snatched it up just as the bedroom door opened. I was gone in an instant.

I walked along the ally towards the town square. I wandered around until I started growing agitated with myself. I couldn't believe I had fallen for such a stupid trick like that. Suddenly I could feel a low deep growl forming inside me. A school bell rang off in the distance and students started filling the streets.

I pushed by a group of students and headed back towards the forest. I was growing angrier and angrier, taking off in a full sprint, slowly transforming once again into a wolf. I hit the woods, not even letting myself time to get away from the town's edge and let out another loud howl that caused the ground to quake beneath me more violently than the last one. I could feel power and strength surge through my veins. More importantly I felt rage and hatred pumping thought my body.

Suddenly alarms and sirens started going off in the town. Not even a minute had past and I was standing and looking towards the town. Most of the homes and stores were up in smoke and flames. I looked over at my childhood home to see Nate surrounded by a couple of men and women. Nate had an evil smile, distorting his face into a gruesome figure.

I was ready to lunge at him when a portal appeared before me and a hand dragged me inside. When I opened my eyes Novae was standing in front of me.

"Novae?"
