Memories of Midnight

Part 6 *Novae*

I stared at Vixen as she laid on the ground not moving. I had to save her, but I had no idea what Nate's game plan was. It made no sense to me on why he wanted her alive, but I couldn't let that happen. Miracle used to tell me about The Grave Angels all the time, but no one knew what they were after. The thug from behind me pushed me forward to Vixen's body. Nate stood beside her with his gun pointed towards me.

"Now I'm going to say this one more time. Heal her or you both die."

I looked at Vixen, her chest was barely rising and falling. I didn't know what to do at this point. If I didn't heal her she would die and I would lose my love, but if I did heal her then Nate and his stupid group of abominations would take her and do horrible things to her. I had to think of all of Spirit Realm at this point. Then Vixen's head slowly turned towards me and her eyes barely fluttered open.

"Heal her."

I couldn't just let her die. I placed my hands over the bullet wound and closed my eyes. I started envisioning the bullet coming out of her body and the wound closing up on itself. I opened my eyes as I watched the process begin. Just as the wound healed a blinding light erupted from where Vixen laid in the grass. Nate and his partner cried out in pain and somebody grabbed my hand. Gunfire went off and a loud howl sounded all around me. My ears began to bleed as the light faded away. I blinked to adjust my eyes to the light when I noticed someone's arms holding me. I looked behind me hoping to see Vixen, but was deeply disappointed to see that it was Miracle. I looked around for Vixen, but she was no where in sight. I turned to the ground in defeat until Miracle spoke up trying to make me feel better.

"Man, it sure was a 'Miracle' that I showed up when I did haha."

She playfully nudged me as I groaned in annoyance. I stood up and got ready to head back to Physical Realm. As I motioned my hands to open up the portal again Miracle grabbed my shoulder and looked me sadly as she shook her head no. I looked at her shocked, growing angry that she had the audacity to tell me no.

"What do you mean no!? Vixen is alive, but do you see her around anywhere!? No! So that means I have to go find her!"

I was about to take off again when everyone from the manor surrounded me with sad looks. I looked back at Miracle who held her hand out to me.

"Come Novae, it's time we told you about your mother and who she really was."
