Quick backstory for this one: Will and Nico, after graduating college in New Rome, married. They bought a medium sized apartment in New Rome and Will got a job as a doctor and Nico works as a preschool teacher. They're about twenty five, and they adopted two kids, Vanessa, an eight year old, a daughter of Athena and Sam, a five year old, a child of Venus. The kids call Will daddy and Nico Dada, just for reference.

Vanessa's POV

I set my book down, eyes tired from trying to read the words swimming around on the page. I looked up from my perch on the armchair, surveying the scene around me. Daddy was at the small wooden kitchen table, pouring over patient files. Dada was sitting cross legged on the rug, letting Sam put makeup on his face. There was lipstick smeared all around his lips, and the eye shadow that Sam had tried to carefully apply to Dada's face was everywhere, making it look like his entire face was blushing.

"Can you tell us a story?" I asked, broadcasting my voice out into the room. Everyone looked at me, and Dada sighed.

"Vanessa, it's almost eight thirty. There's no time. Remember, you have school tomorrow."

"Please?" I begged, putting on my best puppy- dog face.

"Yeah, please?" Sam whined. He tugged on Dada's loose black pajama shirt, staring up at him with sad eyes.

"Fine," he decided. Sam sat down in front of him and I hopped down from my chair, sitting in front of Dada, the same way as Sam. "So, what do you want to hear?"

"The story of your and Daddy's first date!" Sam and I cried at the same time.

"Are you sure?" he asked. "I've told you two that one a thousand times."

"We're sure!" Sam insisted.

"Fine," Dada sighed.

"Well, if you're going to tell it, than I might as well help," Daddy said, setting down his patient files. "Your Dada always gets the details wrong."

"I do not," Dada protested. Daddy said nothing, only coming down to join us on the paisley carpet.

"I remember like it was yesterday," Daddy started. "It was right after the war with Gaea, and Nico was staying in the infirmary for the three days he promised me. He was thin and pail and could barely lift in arm and-" Dada cut him off with a light punch on the arm.

"I was fine, you just wanted me with you at all times. Anyway, it was the third day of my forced infirmary stay, and I could tell that your Daddy was sad to see me go. He was crying all over the place, doing anything to get me to stay. One time he tried to set a monster on me to hurt me so that I had to stay."

"That's an outright lie!" Daddy complained. "That never happened and you know it!"

"Anyway," Dada continued. "I was healthy, strong-"

"All thanks to me."

"And I was leaving. Which, as I've said before, made your Daddy very upset." Daddy rolled his eyes. "So he wouldn't let me leave. I tried everything, but he was just so clingy he wouldn't let me. So, after a few hours of being trapped in the infirmary, I asked 'Will, why won't you let me leave?' And then he answered 'It's because I'm madly in love with you, Nico!'" Sam giggled, and Daddy scowled.

"Honey as you very well know, that was not how it happened. You faked the flu to stay in the infirmary longer. You were there for another two weeks!"

"Oh, that is not true," Dada said. "Anyway, after Daddy's pitiful attempts to keep me in his life I finally asked him out, just to stop the incessant whining."

"I remember it the other way around," Daddy interjected.

"Yes, well, anyway," Dada continued as if Daddy had never interrupted. "Finally the big day arrived. After quite a bit of bickering, I decided that we should have a nice, romantic picnic on the beach."

"Hang on," Daddy said, holding up a hand to stop Dada from talking. "I was the one who picked the beach. You're getting everything wrong and besides, it's my turn to tell the story." I snickered. Dada and Daddy always argued about the details.

"Fine," Dada pouted, crossing his arms like Sam does when he's not allowed to have another ice cream come before bed. "Continue the story."

"Since your Dada is not good at cooking-"

"I'm alright!" Dada complained.

"As I was saying," Daddy continued, casting an annoyed glance at Dada. "I packed us a lovely picnic. There were tiny little sandwiches, and watermelon cubes, and water bottles filled with lemonade and some chocolate bars. I put all of this in a pretty little basket with an ocean blue napkin inside of it and brought it to cabin 13 to meet up with Nico. I knocked on the door and when he came out-" Daddy glanced lovingly at Dada. This was the part of the story when Daddy and Dada get all lovey- dovey. "And I have to say that your daddy looked amazing. For once in his life he wasn't wearing all black, but a nice white button down shirt and khakis. I didn't think your Dada even owned khakis."

"Your Daddy looked even better than I did," Dada sighed, looking wistfully out the window. "He was wearing a suit. In all my time with him I have never seen him look more handsome, except maybe our wedding day. Anyway, I took his hand and walked out to the beach together. It was nearing dusk and even though it was June, it was a tiny bit chilly. Your Daddy kept me warm, though. He's such a gentleman."

"We ate dinner," Daddy said. "The sandwiches were peanut butter and jelly, which I remembered from his stay in the infirmary were his favorite. I can distinctly remember him laughing at one of my jokes, a tiny smudge of peanut butter on his upper lip. Up to that point, I don't think I have ever seen him eat that much, either."

"I did it for you," Dada said, gazing into Daddy's eyes. I didn't think they were even telling a story anymore. At this point, it was for them, and only them.

"We finished the dinner," Daddy said, continuing the story. "I remember your Dada looking out at the water. It was nearly dark at this point, probably around seven. I remember him looking back at me, then undressing so he was only in his boxers. I remember doing the same, and us running down to the water together. Neither of us were water people but with the both of us, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world."

"The water was beautiful that night, as clear as a crystal," Dada recalled. "We looked for shells together as waves crashed onto us. Once, a huge wave came barreling at me. I would have fallen over, but your Daddy caught me. I was in his arms when it happened, the urge. The moon was shining over us, and it just happened. I remember our first kiss like it was yesterday, standing waist deep in the most amazing water, surrounded by stars."

"It was one of the best moments of my life," Daddy said. I could tell where this was going. They tried not to be very romantic around Sam and me but during this story, it slipped out. This was one of the reasons I liked to hear this story. I liked to see that they were still in love. When some people married, the love eventually fell away. But with Dada and Daddy, it would always be true love.

Hi guys! I hope you liked that one. I've been trying to come up with some more interesting ideas, and I have a fun one stored for next week as well but remember requests are always open. Also, I'm sorry for the bad title.
