It had been a couple of weeks since you had last visited the best place to eat in town, so you were excited to go to it with your two good friends and Kahoot. The Skyline diner was a small, locally owned 60s styled diner complete with the red covered chairs and checkered tiles. Plenty of windows lined the walls of the building, letting sunlight inside of the restaurant.

After the first week of school was finally finished, you, Kahoot, Bay, and Phoenix meet up and walk there together since everything in this town is magically within walking distance. Surprisingly, the diner wasn't that busy yet so it was only the four of you and the staff inside of the restaurant. The waitress who had worked here for as long as you can remember motions for you guys to sit down, so Bay picks a booth near the back. You slide into the cushioned seat with Kahoot beside you while Bay and Phoenix go on the other side.

You all chat with Kahoot, hoping to learn more about the kid you all basically just met, and he mentions that his birthday was back in August on the 15th. Phoenix looks intrigued by that.

"Too bad it wasn't anytime sooner, I have something you might have liked...actually, you know what? I think I'll just give it to you on Monday anyways," exclaims Phoenix thoughtfully.

"You don't have to do that," replied Kahoot.

"I insist. Hell, since you're now in our group and all, think of it as a welcoming present," explains Phoenix cheerily.

At hearing that, you and Bay exchange surprised looks. Phoenix almost never likes new people, especially not enough to invite into your group. It was really weird, but because Phoenix looked genuine enough, you both let it go.

The waitress comes and you all order your drinks. She returns shortly after with them on a tray, and everyone then orders their food. With that done, you all return to talking with each other quietly. The only exception was Phoenix, who was talking so loud he was practically yelling.

After awhile you can see Kahoot getting restless, shaking his leg, and looking at the clock frequently. He sighs dramatically and lays his head down on the table, and you chuckle to yourself at his impatience.

You get distracted when you hear a muffled bang coming from under the table. You look up to ask what that was when you notice Phoenix's face scrunched up in pain. He looks at Bay with a glare, who smiles innocently, and when you look under the table you can see her kicking him with her Dr. Martens.

"Ow! Damn it Bay, stop doing that," demands Phoenix. In reply, Bay just smirked and lightly kicked her boot into his shin one last time.

Just then the food came, the waitress leaning down and putting the plates on the table. Phoenix starts eating immediately, and when he tries to say something Bay cuts him off.

"Don't talk with your mouth full, that's disgusting. If any of you guys want, you can have some of my food." You and Kahoot smile and politely decline, but Phoenix reaches over and grabs a big handful of fries, his mouth still full of his own food. He gives her a thankful smile and a thumbs up, his cheeks resembling a chipmunk's. Bay was always a very generous person, and you really liked that about her. Wisely, Phoenix waited until he was done chewing before thanking her.

"Thanks Bay, you're the best."

"Trust me, I know I am," she marvelled back with a hint of superiority in her voice.

Once you're all done your suppers, you decide to pay for all of them because you're just that nice. Bay and Phoenix leave to head off together while you and Kahoot decide to go back to his house to watch a movie or something.

You and Kahoot watch them leave as they walk away, now out of earshot. Bay's boots drag against the road, Phoenix barely making any noise beside her. She looks up to him and can tell that he wants to say something, so she waits patiently for him to fill the silence. It isn't until they can see Phoenix' house that he starts speaking softly.
