If Kai had to describe himself honestly, he'd say that he's lonely...though, he'd never actually tell anyone that. Instead, the words charismatic, hilarious, and amiable would come to mind and he'd play those off effortlessly. Bay's never asked, but she knows the truth.

Ever since that day in the hall, she's gotten to know Kai a little better. They both like pop music, appreciate the pastel aesthetic, and enjoy watching comedies. Bay was always delighted when he got to walk home with her, to Phoenix's great dismay. But, now that her and Phoenix aren't talking much, she can do whatever she'd like without complaint. Which she is taking advantage of now, going to hang out at the arcade with Kai.

Bay and Kai walk side by side, lollipops melting on their tongues. The plastic bag in Bay's hand holds a dozen of orange and cherry flavoured suckers, a flavour for each of them. Kai prefers the orange suckers to the cherry ones Bay gets, even though they turn his mouth orange. It's not like the red coloured candy doesn't do that too, mixing with Bay's blue lipstick to form purple on her lips.

"I'm gay," Kai announces suddenly. Bay almost chokes on her lollipop.

"Uhh." She doesn't know what else to say. Scratching the back of her neck, she nods. "Okay. Who else knows?"

Kai shrugs. "Mr. Adams. Louise too, I guess."

Bay's eyes widen in surprise. "He knows?!"

Kai nods. "Yeahhh. I'd like to think i'm sneaky, but I'm really not. He caught me with Jake last year and I don't think he's treated me nicely since." Standing there, hands in his pockets, he looks really small.

"Kai?"

"Yeah?"

Bay puts her hand on his shoulder. "I'm cool with it." (This is because Bay is a decent human being, and doesn't judge others for who they love.)

He smiles. "Cool."

Apparently Kai and Bay have the same taste in arcade games. As soon as they get in there, it doesn't take long for Kai to spot the motorcycle simulator and dash to it, Bay only steps behind him. After losing to him for the third time in a row, Bay admits defeats and declares that she's hungry.

It's when they finally get up to find food that you see them. You run over to say hi, and end up talking with them for a bit. Eventually they leave, presumably to go to another racing game, so you go to find Kahoot again. He's still playing Tetris.

You have no idea if it's from his so-called "plan" or just sheer luck, but Kahoot ends up with over a thousand tickets. Unfortunately, the prizes only start gaining value at around 20,000. The only things he can get are cheap items like bouncy balls or stuffed bears. You expect him to get one of the stuffed animals, but does he do that?

Nooooo. Instead, he trades in the tickets for two matching black baseball caps with the letters "FBI" embroidered on it in white. One for him, one for you. Who knows why he chose the hats.

"Are you FBIs most wanted? Because you're at the top of my list," he tells you with a wink.

Oh. That's why.

You both walk out of the arcade with your hats on. Kahoot's beanie is not so stylishly balancing on top of his other hat, and he keeps having to readjust it so it doesn't slide off. He coughs, clearing his throat.

"So, um...can we be dating? Like, officially?" Kahoot asks shyly.

"We weren't already?"

"...No?"

You laugh it off. "Okay, yeah. We can be dating."

Kahoot beams and intertwines your fingers together. His hand is rough and warm against yours. You lean into his side, smiling unabashedly.

Your hand has never felt so heavy, or your heart so light.
