Kahoot walks into class the next morning with a mischievous smirk on his face. It's there for two reasons: 1) the prank that's going to happen later and 2) the not-so-perfect assignment in his backpack. If you asked him why he looks so devilish, he wouldn't tell you. You'll find out soon enough anyways.

Feet clatter and chairs scrape against the floor as English class begins. Kahoot smiles and waves to you. You give him a faint smile in return, but you're not really feeling it. Squished at the bottom of your bag is that stupid paper with that unfair grade you'd rather not think about. It crosses your mind anyways.

"Before class begins, please place your homework assignments on the corner of my desk," Mr. Adams drones out. "After that, we'll continue reading chapter three."

Papers rustle as students try to find their papers, some of which are just doing it for show. Your C stares up at you as you search for your homework. As you pull it out in success, you feel a tap on your shoulder. It's Kahoot.

"I can bring yours, too," he offers.

"Thanks," you reply nonchalantly. You go to put it in his outstretched hand without really paying attention, and that's when you see it. On his paper, filling every space without words, are holes. Precisely punched into the paper.

"Kahoot!" you hiss quietly. It's as shocking as it is amazing.

"What?" he says, feigning innocence. "Look, I made sure it's on lined paper...because that one can have holes, right?"

You gape at him. "You are unbelievable."

He shrugs, smirking. "Maybe a little."

You're shaking you head, a smile slowly spreading on your face. "But I approve," you tell him.

Kahoot takes the papers and head up to the front of the class, smoothly placing them on the bottom of the pile. You wish you could see the look on Mr.Adams face, but he won't be looking at them for awhile. Oh well.

The reading is dreary (like this whole story ayyy) and so is the work that goes along with it. Twenty minutes before the bell is supposed to ring, Mr.Adams reaches for the assignments and starts grading them. His infamous red pen that's always in his shirt pocket writes grade after grade, until finally two papers are left.

He puts his pen down gently, and calmly picks up the hole-filled page. He closes his bad eye and looks through a random hole, like you would a telescope, and stares at Kahoot.

Kahoot waves through it. A deep chuckle resounds from Mr.Adams, and he picks up his pen shaking his head. He thinks it's funny. I mean, of course you didn't want Kahoot to get in trouble, but the lack of conflict is quite honestly irking.

The whole thing improves and then sours your mood.

At least Mrs. Norberry's science class is fun. The smell of chemicals waft through the air as kids try and fail to correctly do what was asked. Liquids spill and drip down the beakers, making a chaotic mess. Absentmindedly, you notice Phoenix and Kahoot giving each other sly looks from across the room.

You head over to Phoenix. "What are you doing?"

"Huh? The experiment...?" He looks genuinely confused.

"Don't play coy. Something's up."

A smile ghosts across his face. "Just wait, my friend. Just wait."

With that cryptic answer, he turns back to what he was doing. You sigh. Whatever, you'll find out eventually. Today is when you're really thankful for having Kahoot as a science partner, because doing this with someone incompetent would be alarming.

Mrs. Norberry straightens her glasses. "Once you're all done the first step, we can move on to - AHH!" she shrieks, clutching her chest.

A bang resounds through the room. Near the centre of the class, where Phoenix's and Kai's station is, a giant ass flame had erupted. A halo of burnt hair surrounds Kai's face. His eyebrows and eyelashes are burnt black, and his bangs are scorched to within an inch of their life. Laughter rings out, Phoenix and Kahoot cackling in the background

"My dear! Oh, goodness me!" Mrs.Norberry shouts, troddling over with a wet washcloth from the sink.

Kai is just standing there, blinking repeatedly. He slowly turns to face Phoenix, who's now laughing so hard that he's bent over clutching his chest.
Phoenix is laughing so hard that he needs to leave the room. Kai, on the other hand, is escorted to the nurse's office to assess the damage. A hand taps Kahoot's shoulder. It's Bay, eyebrows creased together and a frown on her lips.

"You know how dangerous that was?" she says to him. He opens his mouth, then closes it.

"It's not that dangerous..." Kahoot trails off, eyebrows scrunching.

Bay sighs and goes back to her station. In the end, no one gets into trouble and Kai's hair is (mostly) salvageable. After school, Kahoot walks home with you. It's getting chillier as the month goes on, so today Kahoot is wearing a black beanie that complements his red and blue glasses nicely.

You know Kahoot was involved with Phoenix's scheme, but you don't care enough to bring it up. Before you can find something else to talk about, he speaks.

"Um..." He coughs and rubs the back of his neck. "Uh, wouldyouliketogoonadatewithme?" His words jumble together.

"Sorry, what?"

"I said...would you like to go on a date with me?" he repeats softly. It makes you pause.

"Like a real, actual date?" You feel your heart skips a beat.

"Yeah." He rubs the back of his neck. "You don't have to, obviously, but-"

"I'd love to," you interrupt. A smile cracks across his face, and his eyes gleam.

Fireworks go off inside.
