The masked man had been planning this for weeks. It was a simple plan, really: slip in through the window, grab the kid, and get the hell out of there. He thinks that grabbing this child won't change anything in the grand scheme of things; after all, he's already kidnapped one kid, what's one more?

The moon shines on him as he treads through the trees behind the house of his victim, who he hopes was still asleep. He didn't want to use much force, but if he had to he would. Armed with a gun if worst comes to worst, he approaches Bay's house.

Tonight was finally the night that Phoenix decided to suck it up and apologize to Bay...and tell her how he really feels. He even dressed up for the occasion: a crisp white button-down shirt, dress pants, and fancy shoes. He even took a little extra time doing his hair.

The outfit made him feel really out of place, nowhere near his usual style, but he did it to show he meant what he's going to say. On his walk over to her house he met a street vendor selling flowers, so now here he was in front of Bay's house holding a bouquet of roses. He found it very cheesy, but knew that she would appreciate the gesture.

***

The window nearest to him was unlocked, and the masked man is very thankful for that as he steps through it into a bedroom. All of the lights in the house are off, the only sound being the deep breathing of Camille to his right.

In the comfort of her room, Bay suddenly remembers that she forgot to turn on Camille's fan, something that she'll be very pissy about in the morning if she finds it was off all night. With a sigh, she steps out of bed and heads towards her sister's bedroom.

When Bay sees a dark figure hovering over her sister, she stops dead in her tracks. Her scream is frozen in her throat, but she must've made some kind of noise because the intruder turns towards her.

Every instinct is telling her to run, to get away, but her sister is in there and she needs to protect her. No one moves.

Bay's clammy hands shake, as does her voice when she calls out to him: "What are you doing?"

She tries putting up a look of confidence and aggressiveness, but in reality, she's nowhere near confident right now and is shaking severely. Her hearts pounds in her chest and she can hear the blood rushing in her ears.

The masked intruder doesn't reply. Instead, he grabs the lava lamp on Camille's nightstand and starts advancing towards Bay.

A knock sounds, halting them. They both turn to the front door.

Phoenix knocks once, twice, three times. No answer. He figures that Bay is just busy, but when he hears a high pitched yelp he figures otherwise.

"Bay?"

No answer. He hears something thud to the ground.

"Bay!"

Still no answer. Phoenix swears softly to himself and raises his voice.

"Bay, I swear if you don't come to the door right now I'm knocking it down."

A minute passes before Phoenix finally does anything. With a swift kick he busts the door open, wincing at the damage he'll have to repair later, eyeing the split wood. A breeze drifts into the room, rustling Camille's empty sheets and making the open window rattle. The first thing he sees is Bay lying on the floor, unmoving, drops of blood around her.

"Bay?" he whispers.

He rushes up to her and falls to his knees, lip trembling. The red of the roses and of the blood pooling from her head clashes against Phoenix's white shirt, and the dim lighting makes the scene look horrific.

"Shit, shit, shit," he mutters to himself, running his hands through his hair. He quickly pulls out his phone and calls for an ambulance. After the call, he refocuses his attention on Bay.

"Bay c-come on, answer me," he murmurs, his hands placed on either side of her face. He can't tell if she's breathing or not.

"C'mon, Bay, wake up. We were supposed to go on a date tonight, have fun and stuff....please be okay. Please." He shakes her gently before pulling her tightly against his chest.

"You're my sunshine." His voice cracks.

"I love you."
