"So what you're saying is that I have to fill this tube with spit," Toohak deadpans.

"Yeah."

"Gross."

Kahoot and Toohak sit side-by-side on a metal park bench, two DNA testing packages laying tauntingly on their knees. Toohak barely touches his plastic tube as he picks it up.

Kahoot leans closer. "At least it's not that big? It shouldn't take too long."

"Yeah, little mercies. Where'd you even get these things?"

An hour ago, Kahoot chipped his window with a rock in order to show him his newly acquired DNA tests. Three days have passed since Kahoot first showed up and made him clamber out of his window, which is 72 hours where his brain has had time to process the fact that he might have a sibling - or, more precisely, a twin. He doesn't know how the idea makes him feel.

"I got it online. You can find anything online these days." One corner of Kahoot's lips curl into a sharp smirk. "That is, if you're willing to pay the price."

"...that's not ominous at all," Toohak replies.

Once they're done filling the tubes and sealing the boxes, Kahoot shoves the small white packages into his hoodie pocket. The bump makes him look vaguely pregnant.

"According to their website, it'll take about two weeks to process once they get there," Kahoot informs him. "Once it's done, we-"

"We what?" Toohak cuts him off.

"Uh..." Kahoot looks lost. "What do you mean? Then we know."

The other boy rolls his eyes. "Okay. So we know. Then what?"

Toohak had be thinking about this for the majority of the past three days. Outcome  1: they're not related - no harm, no foul. But if they are? Then...everything changes. What would it mean for his dad? What would it mean for them? Kahoot looks at him oddly, his head tilted to the side.

"Um, I didn't- I didn't think that far ahead. What would you want to do? If it says that we actually are, y'know, related, we should decide what to do together."

Toohak doesn't miss a beat.

"I want to take it to our graves."

"What?" Kahoot exclaims. His eyebrows raise to his hairline. "No way! If I find out I have a secret twin brother, there's no way I'm not telling anyone! That's like- that's too awesome to keep secret!"

"Too bad," Toohak replies simply.

"Not too bad! We're discussing this."

Kahoot's hands are raised in the air, gesturing between them wildly. Toohak raises an eyebrow.

"It is too bad, because if you don't keep your mouth shut, then I'm not doing this."

Kahoot opens his mouth, only to close it again. He stares at Toohak for an uncomfortable amount of time. Kahoot's eyes are calculating, darting all over his face, and he seems to realize that Toohak's mind is set. He won't budge.

"Okay," Kahoot says, smiling in a thin line. "I'll keep my mouth shut. No problem. It's just- WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT!" he screams, falling off the bench and pointing behind him. Toohak whips around, heart rate jumping from the yell. There's a tree, a field of grass, and a few of bushes, but other than that...it's just air. Nothing's there. He turns back around to ask the other boy what his problem is, only to find the cold bench empty with Kahoot a couple of feet away, running for his life.

Toohak raises his hands indignantly. He stares at Kahoot's back as it grows smaller, not knowing what's just happened, until he realizes.

Kahoot has both DNA packages.

Kahoot has his package.

"Gene theft is illegal, you brat!"

Kahoot laughs and looks over his shoulder. He shoots him fingers guns, picks up his pace, then disappears around the corner.
