Love is a strong word.
Too strong for you and Kahoot. You've known each other for, what, a couple of weeks? You barely know him, and he barely knows you. If this was real life, you would both like one another, but the emotions wouldn't run deeper. Not yet, anyways.
But this is like fiction.
The sun streaming in through his window wakes you up. Or maybe it was the birds, idk. Kahoot is already awake, arms above his head stretching but still laying down. You brush his arm to get his attention, and he opens his eyes to look at you.
"Hey," he says softly, his voice gravelly from sleep.
"Hey."
You stare at each other for a few moments, Kahoot now smiling a dopey smile. He pulls you close to him, nuzzling his face in your neck. You feel his laugh against you.
"What?" you ask softly.
He props up his chin on his hand to look at you.
"Nothing. I'm just...really happy."
That is one of the sweetest things someone has ever said to you. You bury your face in your hands, cheeks burning.
"Oh my goddddd, you sap," you whine. You're both smiling like fools now. He wraps his arms around you, and you sigh. It's warm and nice and safe. You both stay like that for a couple of minutes, happiest you've both been in awhile.
You and Kahoot are still smiling softly to yourselves when your phone rings. You reach onto the nightstand to answer it, not bothering to check who it is.
"Hello?"
"Y/n, y-you need to come to the hospital right now," Phoenix sobs into the phone.
Your heart drops. "What? What's wrong?" you ask, sitting up and earning a concerned look from Kahoot.
Phoenix swallows and composes himself before responding. "It's Bay. She's been hurt."
