This is it. I look upon the building in front of me, knowing what lurks behind it.
This is my only chance at getting Chase back. I feel terribly for how I acted toward him, but I felt that it was necessary to push him away. This is what happens when you get too close to others; they're taken from you and used as leverage. Chase would be fine if he hadn't known me. He would still be working hard as an assassins. Most of all, he would be happy.
I need to get him away from the Templars. Once I free him on them, I will free him of me. I'm too dangerous to be around. Nothing but harm comes of the people I love.
The Apple hangs by my side in a small bag. With it on me, I feel confident. If I have it, I know there's no way someone can control me. Right now, I'm free to do as I wish, and I will take advantage of that.
Using my powers, I hit the guard at the door into the wall, knocking him out. I enter and close the door behind me. Only now am I truly realizing how poorly thought out this plan is. It's too late now to turn back. There's only forward from here.
The Templar hallways are dark, giving me the ability to stay somewhat hidden. There are no guards in sight, which is odd. After wandering through aimlessly, I finally come to the common area. This is the room in which Chase and I were held captive. My first moments in this time period were odd and frightening. I was so confused. Now, I know how everything works and how everyone interacts.
I spot Chase sitting on the floor of the same cage he was in before. He is slumped over with his head in his hands. I assumed he was sleeping until he let out a large sigh. It didn't seem like a tired sigh, but more of an emotionally exhausted one.
The keys were hung up on the wall on the other side of the room. It was obvious that this was a trap, but I can't just leave him here. He saved me; now it's my time to save him.
As stealthily as I could, I sneaked near the border of the room. My footsteps were silent, just as I was taught by the assassins. I gently gripped the keys, careful not to make too much noise and walked over to Chase's cage. Only then, had he noticed me. Before, his eyes were stuck to the ground.
"You shouldn't have come here," Chase whispered to me.
"I know, but I did anyway."
"Thank you."
No one spoke as I tried different keys, only to find that the last one was correct.
"They didn't hurt you, did they?" Chase asked softly. I had expected a hint of anger due to how we left things, but instead, worry and concern filled his eyes. He looked sad, broken even. He wasn't in their hands for very long, but the Templars were not ones to be underestimated.
"No, but we need to leave before-"
"Ah Lexi. It's so nice to see you," a deep female voice said from behind me, cutting my statement short. I quickly turned around and readied my fighting stance. Chase tensed beside me, but didn't prepare to fight.
"I suggest you let us go. Fewer of you will be harmed," I said, daring the Grandmaster to make a move.
"We shall see." She eyed me with a determined gaze. "Engage," she ordered.
Both Chase and I fought the twenty Templar soldiers. I rarely used my powers. I didn't want to drain myself of energy. I spotted Chase on the other side of the room fighting, but not will the same heart he normally had. He seemed tired. He fought as if he had nothing to fight for. It saddened me to see him in this state, but I could only hope he would recover if he was out of this setting.
