So...the world is going to end in fire, most people are going to die, the humans are going to be the only ones to thrive, and I'm going to be sent to the future to make sure they're not the only ones there. Perfect, just perfect. My life is completely perfect. All I've been doing for the past week is exercise. I do have to admit though, my muscles are looking very defined. Dr. Gultz and Lydia informed me that it would help me adjust better, physically, to the new time period.

Lydia strolls over to me with sympathetic eyes. Oh no. She reveals a blue liquid in a tiny glass.

"Drink this," she says not making eye contact.

"Why do you have a guilty look on your face?" I question.

"You'll find out in 10 weeks from the moment you drink this." I take the mysterious liquid from her hands and stare at it.

"Please," she begs. "You are the insurance for the Isu race and this drink is our insurance. Also, you may want to sit on the bed before you take it."

I nervously make my way over to my bed and take a seat. My eyes are stuck on the blue liquid in my hands. I gulp the small amount down before handing the glass back to Lydia. I start to become very dizzy and grasp her arms for steadiness. She lowers my upper body down to the bed and stays with me until I've lost consciousness.

My eyes shoot open to see Lydia hooking me up to multiple wires. I look around and notice Dr. Gultz holding a round, glowing object. I try to sit up stand but energy surges through me and forces my body to lie back down. My hands and forearms glow with golden markings (similar to image) as this happens.

"What just happened? What was that?" My voice is shaky from fear. Confusion causes me to panic. It felt as if I had only woken up from sleeping, but so much has changed. It obviously hasn't been a matter of hours, but days or weeks.

Lydia replies to me. "The last thing you should remember is drinking that blue liquid I gave you. That was exactly 10 weeks ago. Your memories will come back in waves after you wake up."

"Wake up? And that wasn't what I was asking about. How did my body move on it's own? I had no control over it." The fear continues to rise.

"That was the Apple. That," she gestures towards the sphere glowing gold, "is your heart, or rather, replaced your heart. If you check, you'll see that you no longer have a pulse. The Apple is your power source now. You'll find out the rest when your memories return to you. We needed that drink to wear off before we sent you to the new time period. It would be too risky to leave it in your system."

"Why did I have to drink that anyway?" My voice is becoming louder and more aggressive.

Lydia hesitates and Dr. Gultz answers for her. "Because we had to make sure that everything went smoothly and you would comply." There is a silence as I take in all of this new information.

"Alright, we are ready to go. You'll need a name that fits the time period you'll be in. Uh, let's see." He thinks for a brief moment. "Lexi sounds like a good name for the 21st century. Yes, that is what you will go by. Lexi."

"21st century?!" I scream out in shock. "I thought it was going to be a few years, decades at most. You're sending me through centuries?!"

"Settle down, Lexi. You need to relax." He faces Lydia and nods. " Do it."

"Right away, sir." Lydia's voice is calm. A needle pierces my vein in my arm which send a warm liquid throughout my body. I'm beginning to feel drowsy.
