The assassins, believe it or not, are much like the Templars. All carry lethal weapons, all are very secretive, and all have their authorities' identities hidden from the world. I didn't even get the chance to see the Templar master. The assassins, however, are sneaky and subtle. They kill people without making a sound. I haven't heard any footsteps pass the closed door in front of my cage. The only indication that people have roamed the hallway are the shadows that are casted. Even their voices are hushed! Because of that, I haven't gotten the opportunity to eavesdrop on their conversations to see what they plan on doing with me. All that matters is that Brother is safe. They can do whatever they want to me. I've already been through worse.
"Lexi?" The familiar male voice pulls me from my thoughts.
"What do you want, Chase?" I ask annoyed. He decides to let himself in and shut the door behind him.
"Do you trust me?"
"No," I say a little too quickly. His expression is a bit pained, but he is quick to mask it.
"But I do trust you more than the other assassins," I add feeling a bit guilty for my words. I shouldn't feel bad. After all, assassins just kill innocent people for the fun of it. They're all monsters. They're the ones that should feel guilty.
"I want you to be able to trust me. I won't hurt you."
"Says the guy that tried to kill me." I raise my eyebrows at him questionably.
"That was simply a misunderstanding." Chase says while inching closer to the cage. A nervous smile is plastered across his face.
"How so?" A mischievous smile creeps up on my face. It's quite fun watching him get nervous and slowly crumble under my words. He seems easier to get to than the other assassins.
"Well... I didn't exactly follow my orders." His voice shows embarrassment.
"Oh, really?"
"I was trying to prove myself! Okay?"
All I can do is giggle at his humiliated reaction. The feeling is great. This is the first time that I've laughed since I've been here. Even in the Isu Era, I rarely smiled or laughed. There was never any time for it. I always followed orders and did what was asked of me. My brother was the only person that brought joy to my life.
"Anyway, what were you really here to talk to me about?" My voice shifts back to its normal and serious tone. Humor is not something I am very familiar with.
"I want to get you to your brother. I have a plan." Chase smiles at me. He stance shows that he's proud of himself. He's standing tall and holds confidence in his tone.
"I'm listening."
"Okay, so the assassins will only release you if they trust you. In order for them to do that, you have to stop with the whole, 'I'm going to kill you' vibe you let off. Also, you need to tell them something they don't already know. That will be the key to earning their trust. After that, I'll make sure you get to the right place."
"What's in it for you?" I question bluntly. I know he isn't doing it out of the 'kindness' of his heart. Assassins don't have a heart...well not one with emotion anyway. Not having a heart isn't an excuse. I don't have a heart and I can express my feelings.
"I want your trust and I'm trying to earn it."
"Very well."
The 3 assassin leaders returned later that day. The hoods covered their faces in the shadows the same way as before. Their identities are sheltered from my eyes. The same assassin is leading the others. The only way of knowing this is by his voice as he speaks.
