"You did well out there," Chase expresses as we arrive back at the assassin base.

"I appreciate your kind words," I reply with a smile.

"You should come along for the next one. The more experience, the better, right?"

"I shall consider it. For now, I must see my brother and inform him that I have arrived back safely."

"Okay, I will go tell the master assassins that our mission was a success."

I smile at him and stroll towards Brother's safe house. I lightly knock at the door. The click of the lock fills my ears before I am greeted by Brother's smiling face. He pulls me into his comforting arms. His embrace brings a warm feeling to my heart.

"I take it your mission went well?" he asks.

"Very. To my surprise, I actually helped. I blocked an attack, but Chase did the rest."

"I'm so proud of you." Brother smiles at me. "You know, back in the Isu Era, I had only hoped to see you once more before you left. That is why I snuck into Dr. Gultz's lab. I thought I would never see my sister's face again. Now that I see what you've become, I couldn't be more proud. You have become such a strong woman." He looks deep into my eyes that threaten to spill tears. "Mother would be proud."

The tears fall as I dig my face into Brother's chest. He pulls me into his chest.

"I love you, Brother. Thank you for everything," I mumble.

"I love you too, Sister." He rests his head on top of mine.

"Good, good. Use more force to make your opponent work harder." Chase says, continuing our training session.

I do as told. I strike hard towards his arm. He blocks my sword with his and takes a step back from the impact. I aim for his torso, which he skillfully dodges. He decides to make a move by striking from above. I use his own move against him and swing my leg to pull his feet from underneath him. I point the sword at his throat while panting from exhaustion. Sweat drips from my forehead. These assassins sure do work for their skills. They don't come naturally, at least, not for me.

"Hey! You used my own move against me," he pouts.

"I sure did!"

"Just because I'm on the ground, doesn't mean you won." With that, he extends his leg out and trips me. The sword releases from my grip. I land on my back hard. I gasp for a breath, similar to another time I remember.

I gasp for air, feeling as if I had been unconscious for a while.

"You have been nothing but trouble these past days. You're beginning to cause more harm that good," Dr. Gultz says staring down at my form lying on the table.

"What happened?" I croak, still a bit foggy. My unfocused eyes follow his pacing form.

"How can you not remember your punishment for trying to rebel? Your previous, and ignorant, master didn't make things any better by knocking you out. I have to admit, he did hit pretty hard." Dr. Gultz says while lifting my Apple to observe a scratch. "That's why you were out for a solid day, which is a solid day's work lost to us. I had to revive you multiple times due to you being a weak being. Luckily, all that's left for you to do is practice the skills you've learned. There is nothing left to teach you. Lydia will return in a few days to prepare you for your journey to a new era. Plan A didn't work out as smoothly as we had previously hoped. There is no way to prevent the solar flare, considering the humans are rebelling. We cannot fight them all. Plan B is to save the Isu race."

I break my previous eye contact with the doctor. He is an evil man that forced me to kill my own mother. If Master hadn't been there to help, Brother would be lost to us as well.

"I'm so sorry! Are you alright, Lexi?" Chase shuffles to my side. I hadn't realized that I was staring at the ceiling blankly while on the ground. Chase grabs my arm to help me up, but I flinch away with my mind still stuck in the memory. They feel so real. He quickly pulls back. I stare at the floor, trying to absorb the information.

"Sorry," I mumble, shaking away the negative feeling running through me.

"It's okay. Do you need help getting up?"

"Yes, please."

Chase puts his arm out for me to grab. I am thankful to have such a patient and understanding acquaintance. He pulls me up from the ground slowly. A soreness creeps over my back. I slightly wince in pain.

"I think our training session is over," he lightly chuckles and I return his smile.

"She should be fine in the morning. Make sure to ice it. If you need anything let me know," Chase says to Brother after returning me home.

"Thank you," Brother says before shutting the door.

He makes his way into the kitchen and comes out holding a bag with green packaging. He hands it to me. I place the bag with it's frozen contents onto my back.

"What is it?"

"Frozen peas."

"Why are people in the 21st century so weird? The food here is certainly strange. Why do they have to freeze everything?"

Brother and I have a good laugh making fun of the people of this new time.

"Oh, Brother, I forgot to mention that there's another mission coming in the near future. You should attend. You don't have much to do most days. I could train you."

"I don't know."

"Come on, it will be fun. We can enjoy our time in the 21st century together."

"Fine, but only because I missed you lots while you were gone on the last mission. I would like to share the memories rather than hearing about them."

Chase was correct when he said I would be fine the next morning. The pain had almost completely disappeared, leaving only a small bruise. Brother has already had previous fighting experience while being in this era. Due to this, he has picked up on the new training fairly quickly.

"Wow you're almost better than me," I observe after sparring with Brother.

"Well I have had quite a bit of practice," he replies back.

"Chase, did you request that Brother attends the mission with us?" I ask.

"Yep! They already said yes. The mission is tomorrow. It was pushed up because we found another lead on a Templar that held a Piece of Eden. We want to get to that as soon as possible. Those artifacts are always a top priority."

The words make me tense up, but I quickly brush it off. Hopefully he doesn't suspect that I am the second piece to the weapon. I don't believe they would consider the second 'piece' to be a person. I can never let my guard down though, not with power hungry people like these.

I'm not sure if I will ever tell Chase who I really am. I do trust him, but I don't know of his personal motivations. Does he really desire the Apple or does he want it just for the approval of the lead assassins? If I ever told him, I'm sure he would notify his authorities. A secret like mine isn't one that is easy to hold. I haven't even had the chance to consider if Chase wants the Apple for himself. That much power can drive a person mad. I prefer not to be put in the position where I would have to stop the power from controlling his mind. Drastic measures would have to be taken.

So much to consider, and so little time to do so.
