-Krispie's-
Third Person's POV:

The second they stepped inside Krispie's, the smell of warm sugar and fresh donuts hit them.

A glowing HOT DONUTS sign lit up the front window.

Zadie stopped in her tracks.

Her eyes widened.

"...It's on."

Delta laughed.

Zadie turned to the employee.

"I'll take..." She glanced at the sign. "...two dozen glazed."

Chase looked at her.

"...Did you say two?"

"Yep."

"Boxes?"

"Yep."

"There are six of us."

"Yep."

He frowned.

"I'm struggling to understand the math."

"You will."

A few minutes later, everyone claimed a booth with teh two boxes of warm donuts sitting in the middle of the table.

Delta opened the box, pushing it toward the Davenport siblings, "You guys have to try these while they're hot."

"Oh wow." Bree smiled, "That's good.

Adam took a bite. "Whoa..."

Leo leaned back smugly. "Nothing is better than Krispie's."

Chase looked at the donut for a second before taking a bite.

"Way better than the power pellets."

By the time everyone had finished their first donut...

Zadie was already reaching for number four.

Adam leaned closer to Delta.

"Does she ever get full?"

Delta scoffed. "No."

By donut number five, everyone had stopped eating.

They were just watching.

Chase glanced between the nearly empty box and Zadie.

"How?"

Zadie shrugged.

"This isn't the first time she's done this," Leo laughed. "Remember spring break that one year?"

"Oh!" Zadie pointed at him. "My dad took us down to the Gulf Coast."

"Yeah, we got into town at, like, two-thirty in the morning." Delta continued, "And it was the only thing opened, so obviously we stopped."

Leo grinned, "We thought she was kidding when she ordered a dozen...and ate all of them."

"I was starved." Zadie defended. "If you guys remember correctly, I had just come from a softball tourney."

"Wait..." Delta smiled. "That's right. Because I got sunburnt sitting out there with your stepsisters while you yelled at the ref."

"I did not yell...I told him that he was wrong with a tone in my voice. There's a difference."

Ten minutes later...

The first box was empty.

Mostly because of one person.

Chase looked impressed.

"I didn't think that was physically possible."

"I don't either," Delta admitted. "We've known each other for years, and she still surprises me."

After they finished the donuts, the group piled into Zadie's Jeep and made the short drive across town.

When they got to her house, Alex looked up from the couch.

She groaned loudly. "Why are you here?"

"I brought you leftover donuts." Zadie rolled her eyes, setting the box on the kitchen table.

The attic had become everyone's unofficial hangout spot. The projector covered one wall, bean bags and oversized floor pillows were scattered around the room, and shelves of movies and video games lined the far side.

Leo immediately grabbed the game controllers.

"So...Mario Kart?"

"No." Delta shook her head. "You cheated last time."

"Okay, well, you cheated at Just Dance."

"How can I cheat at Just Dance?" She argued.

The two broke into a petty disagreement as Bree wandered over to the movie shelf.

"Any suggestions? Z? It's your house. You pick."

"Nah," Zadie stood by the door. "Y'all pick something. I'm gonna go change into my stretchy pants."

Everyone laughed as she disappeared down the hallway.

The second she was gone, Delta looked at Bree.

Without saying a word, Bree grinned.

"Oh..."

"I have an idea."

They quietly started rearranging where everyone would sit.

The oversized sectional wrapped around the back wall.

Adam sat next to Delta without a second thought, putting his arm around her.

"Comfortable?" Delta asked.

"Very."

Bree sat on the other side of her. And Chase sat next to Bree.

The second Leo was about to sit on the other side of Chase, Bree pushed him to the beanbag on the floor.

"Cheaters aren't allowed on the couch." Delta commented.

"You guys are just mean." He argued, but agreeing to stay on the beanbag.

There was one spot left on the couch.

On the other side of Chase.

A minute later, Zadie came back wearing an oversized camp T-shirt and plaid pajama pants.

Bree reached over Chase, patting the cushion next to him.

"You can sit here Zadie."

"...okay?"

Zadie narrowed her eyes, sitting cross-legged on the couch.

As the movie started, Bree leaned just enough toward Delta for only her to hear.

"I give it..."

She glanced toward the two of them.

"...three minutes before one of them moves closer."

Delta smirked.

"My money's on Zadie."

Not thirty seconds later, Zadie reached across Chase without thinking, moved closer in, and grabbed a handful from the bowl sitting in his lap.

"...Called it," Delta whispered.

Chase and Zadie didn't even notice the two eyeing them.

Which somehow made it even funnier.
