Delta's POV:

I met Chase on my way into school.

"You look stressed," I told him.

"I am."

"What happened?"

He hesitated.

"Zadie and I went out...twice."

I blinked.

"You what?"

He nodded.

I can't believe they hadn't told me.

"I don't know what happens now," he confessed.

I shrugged, "what?"

I tried very hard not to laugh.

"I mean... do people just become a couple? Is there some socially accepted amount of time? What if I ask too soon?"

He was asking too many questions this early.

"Dude, whoa," I stopped him. "You're thinking about this way too hard."

He sighed, "I just don't want to mess this up."

"You won't...she likes you."

I took a deep breath in.

"Whether she admits it to me or not...I can tell she really likes you."

"Really?"

He let out a slow breath.

"So...when should I ask?"

I shrugged, "I don't know. When it feels right."

"That's incredibly vague, Delta."

"Just don't over think it."

By the time we reached the front entrance, Chase had somehow become even quieter.

He spotted Zadie walking across the parking lot and immediately looked away.

I smiled to myself.

Yep.

He was definitely overthinking it.

The hallway was already packed when we walked inside.

Principal Perry had set up a folding table by the front doors, surrounded by a growing pile of confiscated phones and headphones.

Zadie slipped her phone into her back pocket before we reached the line.

I did the same.

Adam and Chase casually followed suit.

Leo...did not.

"Ha!" Perry announced, pulling his phone out, "Cell phones are a violation!"

"I think you sticking your hand in my backpack is also a violation."

"Planning on texting your girlfriend in class, were you?"

"I don't have a girlfriend."

"Yeah? Well now you don't have a phone."

She shoved him aside.

"Next!"

Bree stepped up.

"You're not gonna want anything in here. It's just stuff that improves your hygiene and appearance."

"Mocking my porcelain Irish skin?" Perry's eyes narrowed, "Back of the line, princess."

Bree groaned dramatically, stomping out of line.
