Delta's POV:
I was still trying to scrub the stain from my skin after the Kool-Aid shower.
No matter how much I washed, my arms still had a faint red tint to them. It looked like I'd tried using cherry juice as self-tanner.
By the time I made it over to the Davenports', Zadie was already there, sprawled across the couch.
"Hey, look," she grinned. "The Kool-Aid girl is here!"
"Ha ha. Very funny." I rolled my eyes. "This isn't coming off, you know."
She laughed.
"Why are you even here this early?"
Zadie sighed, becoming serious for her.
"My mom is home."
I nodded. "Yeah..." I looked around. "Where's Leo?"
"Doing his chores. Cleaning up after the prank war."
Almost on cue, Leo walked out of the downstairs bathroom carrying a bucket of cleaning supplies.
He groaned. "Okay. Toilet's clean. Bathtub's clean. Sink is clean...and might I just say, you people are disgusting."
Tasha smiled, handing him a small stack of bills.
"Here's your chore money."
"Sweet!" Leo pumped his fist. "I have enough money to see the new Pig Zombie movie and get a T-shirt! Pig Zombie: Cruise Ship Massacre in 3-D. Hungry hogs on the high seas."
"Why would you want to see that?" Zadie asked. "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter sounds way better."
"Oh, please." I laughed. "I'd rather see Tales of the Undead. Pig Zombie sounds like it'd make me throw up."
"Twice," Zadie added.
"Leo." Tasha folded her arms. "I don't want you wasting your brain, your money, or your time on that trash. You are not going to see Pig Zombies. End of discussion."
"But–"
"Uh-uh."
"Can I–"
"Mmph!"
Leo threw his hands into the air.
"Glad to see we were able to talk this out!"
Adam, Bree, and Chase then wandered into the living room.
Adam looked Leo up and down.
"Leo, I know you want to be a superhero, but that's the worst costume ever."
"I was cleaning the bathroom, so I could get some money to see my favorite movie." He dramatically looked over his shoulder. "But someone who shall remain nameless...won't let me go."
"Wait a minute...you get paid money just for cleaning stuff?" Chase asked.
"Oh, yeah." Tasha nodded, "Most kids have chores. You clean things around the house, and then you get an allowance from your parents."
"I was never given any chores." Zadie shrugged.
"Probably because your mom knew you would do them."
I nudged her, "she's right."
"I want chores!" Bree announced.
"I want money!" Chase said.
"I want a big furry hat so I can wear it to scare animals."
We all looked at Adam.
I smiled, "that seems like something you would love."
