-The Lab-

Delta's POV:

I walked into the lab with Zadie like I did every other day. Honestly, I didn't mind—it kind of already felt like a second home.

The three were in their mission suits, training, and Adam was looking really good. Okay, that sounded way too much like Zadie.

We must've walked in right in the middle of something because Davenport was snapping, "Leo, these goggles are not a toy."

Leo shot back quickly, "Come on, my birthday's coming up! Globally know as Dia De Leo."

"No, I designed the mission simulator to fine tune their bionics, not to go on 3D joyrides." Davenport sighed. "Besides, you're not trained for it."

Leo grinned, "Well, how about as a birthday gift you give me a bionic ability?"

"Or I could gift wrap reality and let you play with that for a while."

"So, Leo's having a birthday. What are you? Like nine?" Chase chimed in.

Zadie snorted, trying not to laugh.

"Fourteen." Leo deadpanned.

Chase scoffed, "No, seriously."

"So, how are you gonna celebrate?" Bree asked.

"We're all going to celebrate." Leo replied, "Every year my mom throws me a big surprise party."

Uh, yeah. Tasha always threw the actual best parties ever. She'd even go all out on presents for Zadie and me when we were kids.

"Really?" Adam asked, leaning against the desk.

Leo nodded with a smirk, "Last year she baked a cake the size of me. I'm not gonna brag but I was delicious."

Right on cue, Tasha walked into the lab, grinning. "Guess what? I just found out that I won an award for my undercover reporting on expired produce: 'Something in the Crisper Can Kill You.'"

"Congratulations!" Davenport smiled, walking over to hug his wife. "That's so great!"

"Oh, thank you, but the awards banquet is the same night as Leo's birthday." Tasha broke the news, "I'm sorry, honey. I'm gonna miss it. If I don't show up, I'm afraid they're gonna give my award to that overdramatic screen hog, Linda Montires."

"It's okay, mom. Go have fun. You deserve it." Leo said calmly.

The second Tasha turned her back, Bree pulled Leo aside. "Hey. I thought she was gonna throw you a party—I was promised a party!"

Leo calmed her in a low voice, "Every year she comes up with this lame excuse to make me think she's not throwing me a party. Award? Please. Have you seen her reporting?"

Tasha looked over, concerned, "Leo, are you sure you're not mad? We've never been apart on your birthday."

"Oh please," Adam said, placing his hands around Leo's shoulders.  "He'll have plenty of birthdays, but who knows if you'll ever win anything again."

Tasha shot Adam a look.

"Mom, go get your award." Leo insisted, followed by a weak fake cough, "Chocolate frosting."
