Delta's POV:

My phone buzzed just as I flopped onto my bed, face-first.

Adam:
Hi. Are you busy tonight?

I stared at it, my heart skipping a beat. I was supposed to go to Zadie's tonight to watch trashy, reality tv, paint our nails, and eat junk food like it was a sport.

Then another text popped up.

Adam:
I was wondering if you wanted to hang out?

My heart skipped another beat and my cheeks flushed red.

Adam:
Like a date?

My eyes went wide and immediately hit call on Zadie's number.

She casually answered, "Hey, what's up?"

"Zadie!" I shouted from excitement.

"Delta!" She responded, instantly matching my energy.

"Adam just asked me out!" I practically screamed. "Like on a date."

There was a dramatic gasp on the other end. "Shut. Up."

"Swear." I put her on speaker phone, going back to the text message with Adam, "It literally says... I was wondering if you want to hang out...like a date."

"Oh my gosh! How did you respond?"

"I haven't yet! He only sent the first message six minutes ago."

She paused, and I could almost hear her nod, "Oh, okay. Okay, you definitely don't want to respond too fast."

"Exactly my thoughts." I agreed, standing up off of my bed and beginning to pace the room. "I was thinking wait til, like, eleven minutes?"

"Mm, okay, yes. Send me how you're going to respond."

I started typing, "Okay, okay. What do you think about that?"

Delta
Yeah, I'd love to hang out tonight! 😊

I paused, "that's too much, isn't it."

"Yeah," Zadie said, "Drop the 'I'd love to.' You sound like you're RSVPing to a brunch."

I nodded and retyped.

Delta
Yeah, hanging out sounds fun :)

"Better?" I asked, biting the tip of my thumb.

She read it. "Be flirtier. He literally just asked you out."

"How do I be flirtier?" I began to retype, "Do I add a heart?"

"No..." She sighed, thinking for a moment, "What about a winky face?"

"That seems bold."

"You want bold."

I groaned, "Okay, okay, what about this?"

Deltayeah, sounds fun ;) what time?

"Perfect. Yes."

"Okay. I'm sending it." I copy and pasted my message in my texts with Adam, pressing send.

"Actually—"

"I already pressed send!!" I panicked.

"Okay, nevermind. It's all good." Her voice began to show her panic.

He responded in under a minute

Adam:
Awesome :) I'll pick you up at 5?

I gasped, "He said he's gonna pick me up at 5!"
