2 days.
Melody had been unable to be seen by anyone, for two days. They had been updated that her skull was fractured as well. She would need more time to recover. The other thirty children were all dispatched from the hospital and brought back to their families and guardians. Except Melody. She was barely clinging to life. It'd take a miracle to wake her.
I woke to the feeling of calm. It was so bright...did I get kicked out of the cabin? I sat up, finding myself in no pain. I was wearing my favorite golden dress that I wore two years ago. My brown hair was soft and smooth, as if the past two years of neglect had been non exsistant. Where was I? I stood, feeling the cool ground beneath my bare feet. I looked around. Do I dare to call out? Summoning all my courage, I opened my mouth to speak.
"H-Hello? Is anyone there?" My voice was surprisingly soft, and not at all scratchy.
With a quick flash of light, my mother appeared before me. Overwhelmed with joy and heartache, I ran to her, crying in her arms. She threaded her fingers through my hair gently and held me close. I clung to her, I wanted to be with her. I didn't want to let go.
"Mama! I missed you so much!" I choked out.
"Shh, it's alright, Melody, Mama's here now." She said softly, planting a kiss on my forehead, she looked at me sadly. "But you can't stay here."
"Why not?"
Still embracing me, we appeared in front of Papa. He had forgotten his mask, and you could see the obvious worry on his face. He was paler than usual and his hair was a mess. He was pacing the hospital waiting room. Aph sat nearby, dark circles under her eyes. Neither of them had slept. Garroth, Vylad, Gene, Travis, Katelyn, Kawaii~Chan, Zianna and Garte were there as well, and in similar conditions.
"You're still needed here, Melody."
I looked down at my feet. "This seems selfish, but..."
"You don't wish to be in pain." She said in understanding. "This is a normal fear, my child. But you are strong. I know you can beat it, my little song."
I hugged her. "I promise to visit the graves, and have Dad put right next to you and Jason."
"We'd like that a lot, Melody. Thank you." She hugged me back. "We love you very much, Melody."
"I love you guys too." I choked out on the verge of tears.
Mama kissed my head, and with yet another flash of white, I was brought into terror and pain. It hurt to do anything at all, but my eyes looked around in fear and I began to cry quietly. The monitors were beeping fast and loud, I suppose that's what scared me. The doctors came in and tried to calm me down. It took a bit, but I managed to calm down.
"Papa...I want to see my Papa." I croaked quietly.
"Who's your Papa, sweetie?" A female doctor asked me.
"Z-Zane. Zane R-ro'meave..." I cringed as a needle fell out of my arm.
She put it gently back in place. "We'll get him right in for you, okay sweetheart?"
"Okay." I said in a near whisper. Talking was even exhausting.
The doctor left while the other two kept tabs on me. No one spoke while I rested my eyes as we were waiting. Everything was so heavy, and even the dim light was almost too much.
Zane looked up as a doctor entered the waiting room. "Mr. Zane Ro'Meave?"
He hurriedly walked over anxiously. "Is she okay?"
The doctor smiled. "She just woke up and asked for you."
Zane's heart lept. She was awake?? Relief flooded through his body. She was awake and alive. The doctor led him to her room and as he entered her eyes opened. Again his heart lept, and lept once more when she gave him a small smile. She was on life support, with an IV in each arm. She was bandaged heavily. He walked over and gently held her hand.
"Hey, sweetheart." He said quietly.
"Hi, Papa." She replied in a croaky voice. "I missed you."
"I missed you too, baby." Zane said softly, his eyes glazing with tears. "I'm so sorry, Sweetheart..."
"You didn't do anything wrong."
"I should've tried harder to find you."
"You did your best. I'm here now."
He gently embraced her. "I just, love you so much sweetheart." He carefully pulled away.
"Papa?"
"Yes?"
"I wanna free my friends. The older slaves in Tu'la."
"As soon as you're out, we'll go ask, okay?"
"Okay. Thank you, Papa." She said quietly.
"Anything for you, cupcake."
She smiled sleepily, her eyelids fluttering back shut. Zane gently rubbed her hand with his thumb. The doctors let him stay, and he seemed to help her stay calm when she woke up in small sections of time. It twisted Zane's heart to see her so injured. Soon the doctors let the others in. Levin brought her white carnations, setting them on the bedside table and wishing that she would be okay. He owed her his life. Alexis came in and hugged her when she was awake, crying a bit from missing her. She also gave her an angel stuffed bear. Kyle also came with tears and a hug. He also brought a card game for her to play when she could.
Gene, Travis and Aphmau visited also, and all separately. Gene promised to bring down the Slave Trading Empire in Tu'La. Travis promised to keep on Fallon's tail. And Aphmau brought Melody cookies for when she could eat solid food again.| A/N: I am so sorry this is so short! I'm not having the best of luck with patience...
Uploads will be spaced out greatly, as I'll be having to get a summer Job. Other than that, have a fantastic day!|
