The last two years had been amazing. Melody was elected into the Student Council, and Levin was the student body president. Melody had started taking a law enforcement class, because of her new dream. She also took weightlifting and, on Tuesday,Wednesday, and thursdays, Karate Club. She wanted to better defend herself and now her two year old brother Asher. He was growing and learning really fast. Grandma Silvana and Grandma Zianna wouldn't stop fawning over him. He wasn't completely spoiled rotten, but pretty close.

Today Melody promised him that they would go to the park. Zane was working on a case out of town and Aphmau had work at her Café. So Melody and Asher were alone until dinner time, and they had permission to go to the park. She carried him on her shoulders on the way there, singing goofy songs to entertain him.

Currently she was wearing a pink shirt with her overall shorts, wearing her blue sneakers as well. She looked childish and girly but it was comfy. Asher was wearing a green dinosaur shirt and jeans, wearing brown sandals on his feet. Her brown hair was down, wavy and frizzed from only brushing it that morning. They truly looked like an odd couple of children.

She released him to play on the toddler playground and sat on a nearby bench, watching him interact with the play equipment. He had the rare condition where his eyes were two different colors. One was bright blue and the other a bright hazel orange. It made him the luckiest kid in the world in her opinion.

"Bid Sis! Look!" He called from the slide.

She chuckled. "I'm watching!" She called, amused. Asher beamed before he slid down with his arms above his head. She laughed and clapped for him.

She wasn't too bothered that no one else was in the park; it was Thursday. Most people weren't usually out unless it was the weekend. That's just how things were.

She watched him play for a while before a figure caught her eye. She turned to where she saw it, and relaxed when she saw it was only a pigeon. She turned back to Asher, only to find that he wasn't in sight.

"Asher? Let's not play hide and seek right now Okay?"

No response.

Her heart sped up. "A-Asher this isn't funny! You're scaring me!" She called out again, standing up this time. She pulled her phone out, hit record and put the phone in her pocket. If he was kidnapped they would need a visual evidence.

She called out for him, over and over for about five minutes before she heard him scream out for her from the parking lot. She turned and bolted in that direction, analyzing the situation as she ran to her brother's aid. There was a man, wearing the coat of the Poison Rose. He was the one who had Asher in his arms. There was one other, just wearing a leather jacket and black pants, and he was fumbling to draw his firearm. She threw a punch that winded the gunman and stepped on the foot of the agent. He cursed loudly and Melody grabbed her kid brother.

Keeping him close to her, she ran for the house, dialing the emergency number. She heard the footsteps behind her.

"Hello what's your emergency?"

"There's two men trying to kidnap me and my kid brother, I'm running home right now."

"Where are you at right now?"

"My Street Neighborhood." She told them their address.

"Okay just get inside and lock the door. Stay on the phone with me."

"Okay," Melody was running out of breath. She cradled Asher close and skidded inside her house, locking the door and taking him and herself into the safe room in their home. Inside, there was the safe, along with a month supply of dried food and water. There were baby wipes for hygiene as well. The lock had a pass code on it that only Zane, Melody and Aphmau knew. She tried to keep Asher quiet and calm, but it was proving difficult. His arm had been popped out of socket when he was yanked from the play set and she needed to pop it back in.

"Deep breaths okay? In, and out. Squeeze my arm if it hurts."

"O-Okay." He whimpered.

She gently held his wrist and the bottom of his upper arm. She slowly bent it straight, causing him to clutch into her shoulder. Then she slowly pulled his wrist back into the rest of his arm, and there was a small 'pop' heard. He jumped a bit but then relaxed.

"See? You're okay." She kissed his forehead and held him in her lap, running her fingers through his midnight hair to keep him calm. Outside there were a couple of gunshots heard and a lot of yelling. The sound of a siren soon faded and someone came into the house.

"It's safe to come out now, they're gone." An officer called from the front room. Melody cautiously exited the room with her baby brother in arm. She answered a few questions, before the officer left. Aphmau came home early after being notified of the situation, and wrapped them up in a hug, crying in relief that they were both unharmed.

"Mama mama! Melly put my arm back in by herself! She's magic!" Asher boasted. Melody blushed modestly. Aphmau chuckled.

"She sure is magic, isn't she?" Aphmau smiled softly at Melody, who returned it. "You know what else is magic?" She pulled out a bag of steaming food. "Dinner!"

Melody laughed while Asher cheered. That was a perk of owning your own cafe. You had free meals once in a while. She got out the plates and silverware and Aphmau served it up. They were expecting Zane to come home soon, they just didn't know exactly when. They still talked at night, though. He was working hard and they were proud of him.

He was a bit alarmed hearing about today's events but relaxed knowing that they were both unharmed. Soon Aphmau took Asher to bed.

"Hey, Dad?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think they'll come back?" She asked softly.

"If they know what's good for them, they won't. I promise, I won't ever let them take you, or Asher, Okay?" He said softly. "I wish I could wrap you up in my arms and kiss you goodnight...but I'll be home soon."

"Okay...Goodnight Dad." She blew him a kiss. He returned it.

"Goodnight Sweetheart."

She closed the laptop lid and took a deep breath. They weren't going to get her and Asher. They were protected. They would be able to live normally without that kind of trouble. That's all she could wish for.

| AN: Hey Guys, I know I haven't been uploading a lot, and I have a couple of reasons for it. One: I've been seriously struggling with stuff at home. We have a bad financial situation and there's a lot of legal stuff happening. I've been off and on for the internet because I thought it was stressing me out. I stopped watching Aphmau and hit a bad depression. Now I'm slowly building myself back up, with my best friend along my side (bless her soul) and all of you. I'm grateful for all of you guys that read my stories. It helps build my confidence and makes me really happy. We have one chapter left of this, and then I have a couple more stories I'd like to do. Stay safe you guys, and have a great Valentines! ❤️❤️❤️|
