Monday(MLK Parade)
Desmond
Something about Mardi Gras filled the entire city with love & positivity. Desmond smiled slightly to himself walking around with his bros. They all were people watching & sight seeing but Desmond was on the lookout for one particular person.

I had nonchalantly led them to where her family has stood for years. Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. As I approached the family all the familiar faces noticed me & smiled widely.

"Now I'm not the smartest person but ain't that Cinnamon lil crazy haired friend??"
"Desmond! Baby I ain't seen you in forever you gotten so bigg you hungry?"
"IS THAT J?? Heyyyy babydaddy see nu uh why you cut your hair?? You think you grown now or something?"

We looked at each other & bursted out into laughter. Nobody missed her family more than me. They were the epitome of Southern Hospitality.

I smiled my gorgeous smile deepening my dimples  while passing out hugs & kisses to all the aunts, uncles, & cousins.

Being around them reminding him how family oriented she was. He knew she'd make a great mother someday & he never failed to remind her.

While pushing these thoughts to the back of his head he ate & chatted with everyone knowing she would soon arrive.

Face her now or never I thought while smashing a plate of wings.

Cinnamon
As she walked down the long street holding her niece she could see the tall white church. She instantly smiled as it reminded her how much she loved Mardi Gras.

"Nanny you gonna catch me some uh moon cakes?" her red-cheeked chipmunk of a niece asked.

"I'll catch some moonPIES I don't know anything about mooncakes nanny baby." I replied teasingly.

"Cinnamon ain't that Desmond? I know that's Desmond cause nobody else has outrageous hair like that or dresses like that..I sense drama lemme get my tea cup ready I love some good tea.." Camryn, the eldest niece babbled.

Oh great just when I thought everything was gonna be cool, he remembers where my family stands just great I thought while walking up the stone steps approaching the family.

"Now y'all know it ain't a party til I get here! Where the dranks where the food I'm home better act like y'all missed me!!" I yelled smiling at everyone as they hopped up excited to see me.

All of the overlapped murmuring was slightly faded as she spotted Desmond looking at her.

They locked eyes & everything else disappeared. Stars exploded, planets were reborn and rockets blasted off all within their eyes. He looked away first as a fresh coat of red spread across his cheeks making his dimples deep.

Cinnamon blushed & continued hugging everyone.

After all of the small talk, I walked over to him smiling. I spoke & hugged J and Benjamin then locked gazes with Desmond again.

"Hey stranger..oh wait heyy Desmond!" I teased as I hugged him.

I felt herself melt into his arms and was struck with every single moment we shared together.

My eyes widened & I let go trying to play it cool.

"So y'all ready to hustle for these boxes.."

Desmond
Damn I thought to myself feeling her soft heartbeat as we hugged. I missed her more than I expressed. I'm sure she felt it because I didn't want to let go.

"So y'all ready to hustle for these boxes.." she said smiling that smile I could never get enough of. I would do the craziest of things just to see that smile.

Suddenly Benjamin got loud as heck & I spun around.

"The hell wrong with you bro??" I asked looking confused.

He replied with wide eyes, "CINNAMON I WAS LITERALLY MACKING ON YOU AT THAT PARTY GIRL COME HERE I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT WAS YOU!!" He pulled her into a tight hug. I just chuckled. She always got along with my friends, better than me sometimes.

Just as soon as Benjamin let her go J realized the same thing. Only he wasn't as delicate with his words.

"Damn Cinna you got thick as f*ck! Who been handling that? I know it wasn't Dez cause he woulda told us. Aint that right bro- OW SHIT WHAT YOU HIT ME FOR BRUH!" I smacked his bald head. He had no filter man I couldn't take him ANYWHERE.

"Yeah I know that baby face from a mile away" I stated in my macking voice smirking at her.

"Who has been handling that cause you thicker than the last time I saw ya" I spun her around checking her out. High waisted jeans hugged her body in all the right places.

"I swear y'all ain't changed one bit man. I missed y'all though and it ain't none of y'all business where this finest comes from if y'all was smart enough it coulda been one of y'all but", she flipped her hair walking off.

I loved that attitude and sass. I admired her walking off before being punched in the arm.

"You blew your chance bro that's mine now" J stated cockily striding in Cinnamon's direction.

I do not have time for his sh*t.
