Kris’s POV
It seemed everyone in La-Push was talking about the incident that happened in the woods, the next day. Either they thought I was stupid or I can’t control myself when I’m in my wolf form. I know I’ve been denying my other half but I realize I wasn’t alone.
I couldn’t get him out of my mind.
“Don’t worry about it.” Leah said when I came to my senses, staring at the waves.
I nodded slightly back at her
From a distance I see the gang coming our way, I got behind Leah just in case.
“So, Kris I hear you made a show yesterday” Embry said with a smirk
I looked away as the wind blow my hair across my face, hoping he wouldn’t see how embarrassed I was.
All the guys chuckled.
“Want me to muzzle that mouth for ya” Leah said to Embry
“We’re jus kidden around” Quil said with a chuckle
“So, Seth did you see the size of it?” Embry said as I covered my breast behind Leah
Leah looked at Seth as if “Ignore them Seth”
Seth seemed helpless and confused. I can tell he wanted to be cool around the guys but knowing that Leah is here, he dared not step the line.
“C’on guys, I didn’t see anything” he looked away even though with a quick glance he was blushing.
“But weren’t you telling us last night how …” Embry stopped when Leah was about to form in front of them.
“Alright…alright we’ll layoff” Quil said
“If only I was there to cover Kris up myself” Embry jokingly said
Leah did not bother with them as we walked away but Seth was very irritated by Embry last respond.
“Hey! Can we tag along?” Embry waved at us, trying to grab our attention.
I heard Quil punched Embry on the shoulder. “You just want to see Kris when she form’s again” as they both chuckle, thinking about it.
Poor Seth, I can tell from his face he wanted to beat the crap out of them. But boys will be boys.
“Who does he think he is?” Leah shook her head.
“Well you know Embry, he was just joking like he always does” I said
“Not him, that Leach” Leah said with disgust
“Ooh..”
“Why do you hate them so much?” as we walked around the beach picking up little shells off the ground.
She stopped and looked out into the ocean. “If it wasn’t for those leaches…I still would have had him...”
“Him?” I thought to myself “was she talking about Sam?” I really don’t know the full story between them. I respected her privacy. All of a sudden, I see a tear rush down her cheek bone and right there…it hit me. I never seen Leah cried before…epically someone that she loved so deeply. She leaned on my shoulders as we both stood silently, watching the nightfall.
“They toke something from me….” She quietly spoke “I can never forgive them… I’m scared that I will never fine love again… your all that’s left for me, Kris. The people in La-Push don’t know if a female shape-shifter can imprint. I’m just glad I’m not alone in this…selfish I know…”
That is true what she said, Imprinting on someone. Come to think of it, what they describe... I don’t think I have imprinted on Edward. I was shaking my head at the thought of it, yeah right. What am I thinking, pull it together Kris. He will never fall in love with a werewolf.
“What are you shaking your head for?” Leah looked at me curiously
“Nothing, you’re probably right. Female shape-shifter can’t imprint or at least no one has showed up yet.. I don’t know what I’m saying now” I looked down
She giggled “It’s alright kiddo, don’t hurt yourself, we should probably head home. I’ll make dinner again.”
“I’ll help!” I quickly responded. She giggled again and we headed home.
Opening the door, it seems the guys are still here. Leah rolled her head and called Seth to come down stairs.
“You don’t need to shout, I already heard you coming anyway” Seth said as he rubbed his eyes.
It looked like he just woke up from a nap. She ignored his tiredness
“What are they doing here?” she points at the living room , where they all were watching the tv.
“Ooh…them. They didn’t want to leave, plus after hearing you saying ‘I’m making dinner’, the guys decided to stick around” He smiled so innocently at Leah
“Get them out..” she went to the kitchen already cooking
Embry walks into the kitchen while Quil followed him. “Aww c’on Leah? We’re tired of eating at Emily’s place. You make far the best.” He smiled
“Fine…but once your done you guys head out and no staying over for the night.” She looked closely at Embry.
“Deal!” Embry said to Leah
Quil and Seth sat down on the couch while Embry decided to stay. He kept looking at me while I helped Leah with the food. Guess we’re serving a lot tonight.
“Need some help, Kris?” Embry got up to look around. “Why not I reach over here...” The kitchen was too small for all three of us to be helping at ounce. Quickly, I knew what he was up too, he was about to touch my chest, but I toke a step back and bumped into Leah accidently. A couple of fruits and vegetable fell on the floor and looked back to see who bumped into her.
“Sorry… “ I said as I looked down
But she soon realize it was Embry. He only wanted to stay in the kitchen because of me.
“Embry…” Leah growled at his name
“Opse, I know… out.” I’ll be in the living room if you woman need me.” He winked at me and left.
The night was wonderful. Everyone gather for dinner, ate and we all joked around, saying our goodbye’s. For the first time, I felt like I belong to a family. I even got a bed, sharing a room with Leah which she didn’t mind. Leah was fast asleep, I turned around to face the window. What a beautiful night? Looking at the stars, listening to the crickets and …wait..what’s that sound?
That familiar sound, I quickly sat up straight, watched carefully throughout my window. Beyond the woods, hoping what will appear.
Beneath the shadows, something moved and shivered through the bushes, slowly it came out. A very large enormous wolf, “Is that Sam?” I thought to myself. No… I squinted my eyes and looked closer, it’s not Sam but exactly as his wolf fur. I tilted my head.
That wolf… it looks familiar somewhere. I wanted to go out and see for myself but I had a sense something was wrong.
I got out of bed to wake up Leah but before she was fully awake, it was gone…
“hmm..”
“what ..is..it?” she yawn half awake
“nothing.. just a bad dream again. Go back to bed” I covered her with a blanket but she shoved it off her. I forgot, she’s like an oven.
