Chapter 23: Awakening Secrets

Kris’s POV

The more time I spend with Edward, the more I knew about his kind and his world. It’s like opening up a new book similar to the first one. I’ve heard stories being at the bonfire but I never would have thought Vampires had laws of their own.  I wrapped my wolf body around him, lying down as we both watch the sunset. Lately, I’ve been getting better controlling when to form, Leah thinks it’s a bad sign. No wolf can control themselves yet here I am, proven her wrong. Edward didn’t question my ability nor did he doubt.

Sometimes it’s quite fun running with a vampire when I’m in my wolf form, his incredibly fast. I wonder if Leah can take a dash of his speed. I’m always out of breath.

Quickly I licked his cheek, nodding him to get up. Even if I didn’t speak, or couldn’t read my mind, he has a good sense to know what I want. Usually, I would have to form back into my human self to explain the guys and Leah but never him.

I always thought he was lying about reading my mind but even if I tell him, I felt he was telling the truth.

He got up quickly and handed my clothes, I formed back into my human self as he kept watched from a distance. I hopped on his back by surprise, gently kissing his cold cheek and simply sliding off of him as I smiled.

The stars began to glow above the darkness, he stroke my lips and pushed my hair behind my ear.

“Kris, you're my only reason...to stay alive, if that's what I am. But it's my job to protect you.” He said bending down to kiss me

I pulled back gently… “You can't protect me. From everything. At some point, somethings gonna separate us. It's gonna be the pack, your family, or an accident, or illness, or old age. As long as I'm like this. And the only solution is too…” he stopped me before I can say anymore

“That's not a solution, it's a tragedy.” Edward kissed me, closing his eyes tightly.

“I love you” I said to him

“and I ..love you …” he whispered the last three words

After my long fall from the world above, this is the world I was born to be.

He brushed his fingers across my shoulders, letting the straps of my tank top fall. Pulling me into a gentle embrace, his lips brushed mine as we tumbled onto the ground, my fair hair framing my perfect face. Running his hands down my curvacious body, he looked deep into my chocolate-color eyes and knew that he loved me more than anything. Slowly, I tried taking turns to remove each other’s clothing but refused in every aspect.

“I can’t…I’m sorry..” He said

 I smiled as I dropped excited breathing blowing gently on his chest"

“That’s fine…”

We both held each other tightly throughout the night.  

The next day, Conner drove me to school, I couldn’t hold it any longer and told her everything about Edward and I.

“What does the pack think about this?! Oh Leah?” she gasped

I looked away nervously “…they don’t know..well I haven’t told them”

She gasped even more at the lunch table

“Not yet I mean… shh keep it quiet”

“ahhh….true love at last” she became overly excited “but is there such a thing about a vampire fallen in love with a werewolf?”

“I’m not sure…” I said

“I can research if you like! You know, I’ve gotten good at it, that’s how I found out you were a ..you-know-what” she whispered it so sneakily

I looked back across the cafeteria, Edward couldn’t stop staring nor his brother and sisters. Have I done something to upset them?  Was I not allow to tell Conner everything… I looked back at Conner and tried ignoring their upsetting glares.

After class has ended, I waved goodbye to Conner and headed into the woods. From a distance I heard a twig snapped

“You shouldn’t have told her..” Edward finally spoke

“But she’s my friend.”

“She’s human!” he snapped at me “Do you realize the danger you put her in. The Volturi are a very old, very powerful family, I guess they’re the closest thing to royalty my world has and there most enforce law is keeping our existence a secret. We don't make spectacles of ourselves. And we don't kill conspicuously. Unless, of course, you want to die.”

I looked at him still shocked

“If they come after Conner, they’ll go after you…  I don’t want your death to be this way. I want to protect you…”

“I’m sorry… I wasn’t thinking.. but do you know how hard it is to keep this from the pack?... I’m afraid what they’ll do to you...” I touched his chin as tears fell down my face .. “I didn’t mean to put her in danger. She won’t tell anyone, Edward...she kept my secret, she can keep ours” as I kissed him

I heard another twig snapped and I took a step back, watching, listening carefully and suddenly she appeared…right before my eyes… She’s been watching us this whole time.
