Edward’s POV
Jasper reached out and touched my shoulders as we both stood by the door. By now, everything was coming clear, listening and reading their minds. I came inside avoiding his question without answering.
“Edward?” Jasper questioned
“Let him go, Jasper.” Alice told him
By now, my family knew my weakness around Kris. I sat on the piano stool as I played little short notes.
Carlisle was in the living room while everyone slowly gathered.
I stopped playing…
“Edward?” Carlisle finally said
I looked at him with despair
“You don’t have the abilities to read others mind’s when Kris is near? Correct?”
I stood silent
“and Alice can’t see yours or anyone’s future, when she is near, Kris.”
“Kris isn’t a threat, if that’s what you are applying.” I told him and everyone for assuming the same
“Edward?...you couldn’t stop Rosalie because Kris blocked your telepath. I fear that whatever danger is coming our way, you won’t be able to stop it. That goes for the same towards Alice visions.”
“No blood has been spilled.” I told him. “This isn’t a big situation, Carlisle.”
“You’re not understanding the situation, Edward. This little mischief is an example towards us all.” Carlisle made it clear
I couldn’t think but the pain of staying away from Kris was heartbreaking. Carlisle knew what’s best for the family. He always did… But hearing this from Carlisle was unbelievable, I respected him and his decisions.
“I hate to see you unhappy, Edward” Carlisle said as Esme massaged his shoulders
“But it’s for the best. For everyone’s sake!” Rosalie said for everyone to listen.
I left the room without a word and headed up stairs.
I began to play one of my favorite music Debussy: Clair De Lune
Looking out my window as midnight stood beyond Forks, as the half-moon showed its brightness. Suddenly the music stopped playing and I began to overhear their conversation.
“Do you really think he found his mate?” Esme said in the kitchen as she tried to quiet her voice down.
“I believe so… it hurts me seeing him like this.” Carlisle said to her. “Staying away won’t be easy for him.”
“Is it possible for our kind to love a kind like her?” Esme questioned Carlisle
“I’m not sure if it’s even possible.” He said
They both stood silent …”What was it? That wolves made up? That word for mating?” Esme said
“Imprint.” Carlisle said to her “Wait… Did she imprinted on him?”
“He didn’t say.” Esme and Carlisle were heading upstairs by the time they reach my door, it was already open for them.
“No, she hasn’t imprinted on me.” I finally gave them an answer
“Then, why go along with this nonsense?” Esme said “What if she imprints on someone else? Are you willing to accept that lost?”
I sign “Kris shared many secrets with me as much as I shared secrets with her.” They waited … “She isn’t sure… if female wolves can imprint…When I kissed her beneath the moon that night. She felt it too. That I would follow her wherever she goes, she isn’t like the rest them. She isn’t a shape-shifter. She’s more than what she is or what they say she is” I stood silent for a while
