After transferring schools, Archie finds a friend (and a future boyfriend) in Jughead.
3rd POV-
Archibald Andrews was a firm believer in fate. The idea that every event, good or bad, in his life led him to his soulmate was so romantic and Archie was a hopeless romantic after all.
'Maybe transferring could lead me to my soulmate.' He thought optimistically.
But as Archie spotted Jughead (how could he not? Jughead stood out and even if he didn't, Archie was sure he would look at Jughead as soon as he saw him, he was a work of art) he had a feeling his new found belief in soulmates was because of the older boy.
Only a week ago Archie had moved schools. He'd made his dad wait till the bruises the bat had left had faded first before the transfer to Riverdale High School. His last school had been full of homophobic idiots, and 5 seniors took it further than just pushes and insults. Archie shook his head, as if that would make the horrific memories fade.
'Think of anything else. Or Jughead, that's all you've been doing this weekend.' Archie had met Jughead on his very first day when he dropped his books and a cute stranger helped him. It was like a cliche movie scene, but better because it was real life.
So of course Archie had a lot of belief (or hope) in fate bringing them together.
"Hey." Jughead said in his famous monotone voice.
"Hi Jughead." Archie replied, mostly glad that he didn't blush. (Archie had never blushed more in his life before he met Forsythe Pendleton Jones III.)
"There's nothing worse than school on a Monday. I have this theory school's just an excuse to keep teenagers off the street because they're more likely to commit a crime before 3."
"You would." Archie joked.
"Is that sarcasm I detect?" Jughead asked. Ironically of course, Jughead was obviously the sarcastic one. He seemed to run on sass, an endearing quality Archie liked about him. "You're lucky you're cute with that attitude." Although it was a joke (probably) Archie felt the familiar blush returning.
"You're so mean. And not even that cute to balance it out." A lie, obviously. But at least Archie didn't seem like his brain was melting out of his ears.
"I'm hurt." Jughead said sarcastically, Archie was right, Jughead seemed to drip sarcasm.
"Sure you are." Archie replied. "So I was thinking about joining the football team."
Jughead's smile dropped as soon as Archie mentioned football. "Are you sure? I mean the football team isn't very accepting of people like us."
"Of course I am. I will not let anymore homophobic bastards get in my way." Archie replied.
"You're lucky you're cute." Archie blushed, opening his locker to hide it.
"Why are you in such a good mood anyway?" Archie asked. "Last week you said, and I quote, 'Monday, school and idiots are the worst things to put someone through at 7 am'."
"I haven't seen any idiots yet, that's all." Jughead said, blushing enough for his cheeks to be tinted pink.
The bell rang, signalling start of first period. "Saved by the bell." Jughead commented.
"From what?"
"My wit which you have no chance of keeping up with." Jughead said grinning.
"You're mean." Archie said, pouting.
"I prefer sassy. Come on new kid I'll walk you to class." Jughead said, pulling on Archie's wrist to lead him to class.
'Definitely soulmates.' Archie thought. 'If he wasn't, we wouldn't be running in slow motion,'
