In this one-shot about Bughead Jughead is diabetic and faints during rehearsals for the annual school musical.

Betty's POV

"Hey beautiful." Jughead greets me, placing a kiss on my cheek.

"Hey yourself." I reply, taking Jughead's soft hand in mine. Frowning, I realise he's shaking. "You okay?"

"I'm fine, don't worry." Jughead reassures me, squeezing my hand. Still a little worried, I drop the subject as Ms Grundy came in.

I half listen to Ms Grundy rattling on about the school's production of Grease while watching Jughead out the corner of my eye. Despite what he says I'm not sure he's alright. Jughead's still shaking a little and he's definitely looking paler.

Jughead meets my gaze and smiles giving me the familiar butterfly feeling. 'I love you' he mouths and then goes back to listening. Maybe I was worried about nothing.

"Let's practice." Ms Grundy says with a clap. Wait what?

"Reggie's teaching us some new moves." Jughead whispers as we walk hand in hand to the auditorium. "Which you would know if you were paying attention." He adds, teasing me.

"I was worried about you, you were shaking. You still are." I say, worried about my boyfriend.

"I'm fine, don't worry." Jughead says, basically repeating himself from earlier. "It's sweet but unnecessary."

"You sure?" I ask, still concerned.

"Perfectly." Jughead gives me a quick kiss which we rarely do in school due to our hatred towards PDA. But knowing Jughead it's just a distraction. A good one? Yes. "Come on we're late already." Sighing, I let my annoyingly stubborn boyfriend lead me to the auditorium.

"One more time guys, you're doing great." Ms Grundy calls encouragingly.

We go through the dance again, for the 20th time, at least with School of Rock we didn't have to really dance but instead focus on singing and learning our lines. Still at least I have Jughead, even if he's still got the habit of keeping everything bottled up, like now.

"That was great you guys!" Ms Grundy calls from her seat. "Take a break and we'll practice singing." A mixture of groans and complaining comes from the rest of the group, I'm just glad to have a rest, I'm exhausted.

"You want some water?" I ask Jughead. Only he's white as a sheet and shaking more than before. I'm an awful girlfriend, how could I not notice? "Juggie?"

"I feel a little dizzy." Jughead says in a small voice, that makes my heart ache. I move closer wrapping my arm around his waist for support.

"Do you-" Jughead collapses and I catch him before he hits the floor and gets hurt and more. "Ms Grundy!" I call, getting both hers and the groups attention. The teacher looks up, a worried expression on her face.

"What happened?" She asks, after jogging over here.

"I don't know, he seemed a little off earlier and he just fainted." I explain, I kneel down and adjust Jughead so his head was on my lap.

"I'm calling an ambulance." Veronica calls, holding the phone to her ear. She walks a little way off the stage and starts talking in an urgent tone.

"Did he eat lunch today?" Kevin asks, moving towards his adopted brother.

"No, he was in the Blue and Gold office." I answer. Biting my lip, I ask, "Is that a problem?"

"Yeah, Jughead's diabetic, Mom said that it's important for him to eat or he could get ill and faint." Kevin answers. "No lunch and a lot of exercise is probably why he fainted."

"He'll be alright though?" I ask Kevin, worried.

"Hopefully." Kevin answered. "I'm calling mom and dad."

Waiting for the paramedics is torture. Everyone is whispering and blaming themselves, including me. Groggily, Jughead opens his eyes, looking upset and still shaking a little but thankfully okay.

"Betts?" Jughead asks.

"I'm here honey." I stroke Jughead's hair comfortingly and kiss his forehead.

"Sorry for scaring you." Jughead whispers.

"You should have asked for a break." I scold half-heartily, "or for something to eat."

"Sorry." Jughead repeats.

"You're okay now, would you like some water?" I offer. Jughead only nods and tries to sit up, leaning on me. He takes little sips while I keep my arm around him tightly.

"The paramedics are here." Ms Grundy calls. I help Jughead stand and Kevin supports his other side. When given the choice, we stick with him in the ambulance.

"You scared me dude." Kevin tells Jughead.

"And me." I add, "Do you have to be so stubborn?"

"I just didn't want to worry anyone." Jughead admits, "Guess that plan went downhill, huh?"

After being trapped in the waiting room for an hour and having four different arguments with the receptionist, Sheriff and Mrs Keller show up and I get to see my boyfriend again.

"Hey there." I sit next to Jughead and take his hand. He's regained his normal colouring and looks much healthier thankfully.

"I so sorry Be-"

"Shh." I cut Jughead off, "Stop apologising. You're okay now. I don't love you any less." I give Jughead a soft kiss. "And I will never love you any less, promise."
