Chapter 21 - Beach

Vanessa's POV

It's finally spring break and our parents decide we should all go to the beach. We woke up really early today so that we could watch the sun rise at the beach.
  "Ok, meet us at the restaurant at noon so we could eat lunch together," my dad says as he takes out the things from the car. Roni and I nod our head.
  "And take care of Tiger," our mom points at Tiger who is chasing his tail. We decided to bring Tiger to spend more time with him.
  "Ok, got it," Roni tells our mom. Our dad closes the trunk and tells us, "Ok, see you girls later. Stay safe."
  "Ok, see you later," I say as Roni and I watch them walk over to the shore.
  "Where should we go first?" Roni asks as we start walking.
  "I don't know. Maybe we could just walk around until we find something," I respond.
  "Sounds like a good plan," Roni says.
  We spend the next couple of hours just walking past different shops and attractions. We decided to go into this one gift shop full of clothes and jewelry. Roni and I got matching necklaces that say "Twins Forever." Roni's necklace was purple and mine was pink. We also ran into a fan and took pictures with her.
  "Nessa look!" Roni anxiously taps my shoulder. I look over to see a guy looking at us.
"What?" I ask confused.
"He's cute! He looks like your type," Roni says.
"Seriously Roni," I say seriously.
"What?" She says.
"Just because a guy is cute, it doesn't mean he's my type," I explain.
"So you're saying you don't like cute guys?" Roni asks.
"No, what I mean is I like guys who have a great personality. A guy could be really cute, but could be a murder and kill you on your first date. Besides, what if he has a girlfriend?" I ask.
"True, I'll go ask him," Roni says. I see her walk over to the guy.
"What? Roni stop!" I say, but knew it was too late and she started talking to him.
I watch them probably talk about me. While they talk, I see Roni point at me and the guy smiles at me. I smile back knowing that there might be a chance. I can't believe Roni is actually doing this right now.
After a while, Roni and the guy walk over to me. I fix my hair and make sure I look good.
"Hey," the guy says to me.
"Hi," I respond.
"I'm Trevor," he introduces himself.
"Vanessa, but you can call me Nessa," I respond.
"Well your twin sister said that you were talking about me," Trevor said.
  "Uh, yeah," I respond embarrassed.
  "Well I would love to be friends," he says.
  My smile fades after saying he only wanted to be friends.
  "Friends?" I ask. He nods his head. "Can I talk to my sister for a minute." I pull Roni to talk to her.
  "Friends? Seriously! I thought you were getting me a boyfriend. You just got me friends zoned," I whisper to Roni.
  "Sorry, I thought he liked you too but..." Roni stops.
  "But what?" I ask.
  "He has a girlfriend," she responds.
  "Of course, I should've known," I say.
  "But that's not it," she adds.
  "What do you mean?" I question.
  "His girlfriend is Tiffany," she replies.
  "What? How do you know that?" I ask.
  "Well he said it was her and that they have been dating for a few weeks now," she replies.
  "What are we going to do?" I ask.
   Roni just shrugs and I walk back over to Trevor.
  "Hey," I say.
  "Oh, hey," he says as he notices me. "So," he says.
  "I heard you have a girlfriend. Tiffany, right?" I ask.
  "Yeah, I'm supposed to meet her today. I can introduce her to you." He pulls out his phone and appears to get text. "She's coming any minute now."
  "Oh, it's ok. Roni and I have to go somewhere," I tell him.
  "It's ok. I guess I'll see you later?" Trevor says.
  "Yeah, we'll see you later," I say and wave him goodbye. He does the same and Roni and I walk off. As we get farther, I turn back to see Tiffany greet him with a hug.
  I start to walk faster, but I don't know why. Am I jealous?

  A few hours later, Roni and I meet our parents to eat lunch together. We eat at a Mexican restaurant that has great dishes. We eat here many times before when we visit the beach. As the waitress shows us to our table, I see Trevor and Tiffany eating at a table nearby.
  "Roni, look," I whisper to her and point over to them.
  "Just act cool," Roni whispers back. I nod my head and take my seat. As I look through the menu, I look over to see Tiffany and Trevor having fun together. I quickly look away and try to distract myself.
  As the waitress takes our order, I overhear Tiffany tell Trevor that she is going to the restroom. As she stands up and heads for the restroom, I try to cover myself with my hair so that she won't recognize me. She eventually walks over to the restroom without noticing us.
  When she gets inside, I pull my hair back and tell the waitress my order. She writes it down and takes our menus when she finishes. When she walks away, Trevor looks over to us and sees us.
  "Oh, hey girls! I didn't know you were going to eat here," he says to us.
  "I wish we didn't," I say to myself.
  "Yeah, our family loves this place," Roni tells him.
  "Well I guess this is the perfect time you meet my girlfriend," he says.
  "Oh it's fine. We wouldn't want to interrupt your date," I say.
  "No, I insist. She's coming this way right now anyways," he says.
  Roni and I look to see Tiffany coming. She noticed us and becomes surprised.
  "Veronica and Vanessa!" She exclaims surprised.
  "You guys know each other?" Trevor asks confused.
  Roni and I look over at him and simply nod.
  "Tiffany!" Tiger exclaims.
  "Tiger!" Roni, Tiffany and I react.
  "Did that dog just talk?" Trevor exclaims.
