THEO STEPPED OUT OF the boy's locker room and was hit immediately with the smell of a wolf. But not just any wolf. He could pick out the hint of Luna's scent, but also her chemo signals. There was only one strong emotion he could make out. Fear.
He looked around to see if he could find the she-wolf and caught sight of her pale, blue hair flowing behind as she ran around the corner of the hallway. Before he could stop himself, Theo was running after her.
Scott and Stiles exit the locker room a few seconds after Theo disappeared around the same corner Luna had. The alpha had caught the scent of Theo and another wolf just as he'd stepped out of the doorway. He places his hand on Stiles' chest, halting his movements.
"Do you smell that?" Scott asks his human friend who obviously wouldn't be able to smell what he did.
"Someone's major body odor? Yeah," Stiles replies sarcastically with his face scrunching up in distaste.
"No," Scott continues, already used to his friend's never ending sarcasm. "I smell a wolf."
"Well, Theo did just come out of the-"
"It's not his scent." Scott's eyes met Stiles' as realization flickered through them. "There's another wolf in the school."
As Scott and Stiles look around at the students passing by them -- wondering if any of them were the new wolf -- Theo was closing in on Luna. The girl was shoving her way through the crowds of people as she tried to make it the front doors without hurting anyone seriously. Theo could hear her pants of breath, but knew it had nothing to do with the running she was doing. The emotion of fear was stronger than ever as he trailed behind. He just couldn't figure out what she was so afraid of.
Luna slammed into the front doors of the school, cursing once she realized they needed to be pulled open. Ripping the door open with a low growl, it slammed into the wall behind her and she took off down the steps towards her truck. She thanked all of the gods above that she had forgotten her keys in the vehicle while being too worried about not being the first person inside the school. As she reached the last step, Luna was suddenly aware of the footsteps slapping against the pavement behind her. This was it. Someone had figured it out. After years of keeping it quiet, her first slip up has ended with somebody chasing after her.
Theo noticed how Luna's pace quickened as she made it off the last step and how her fear peaked higher. She must've heard someone was following her and wanted to get away even faster. Which only raised Theo's curiosity of what was happening to her even more. Once he made it to the last step, she had already opened the door to an old, blue, pickup truck. Knowing there was no way he'd get to her before she peeled out of the parking lot, he stopped to watch her get into her truck.
For the second time that day, the two of them locked eyes. Only this time, Theo was staring into glowing, blue eyes and he was suddenly reminded of the last night he'd spent with Luna. When she'd shifted in the middle of the woods after sharing their first kiss.
Luna had a different reaction. Instead being overcome with shock as she did the first time, all she could think about is how nice it would feel to dig her claws through his flesh. To watch the blood drain out of the wounds and all over her hands. To feel the power surge into her body as the life rushed out of his.
A monstrous growl escaped her lips. She had enough control to turn the engine on and back out of the parking spot. Doing well over the speed limit, Luna peeled out of the parking lot and headed to the only place that would keep her contained.
