IF YOU TOLD ME a week ago I'd be out in the woods, in the dark, hiking with Theo and looking for Mason, I might've actually believed you.  It doesn't surprise me one bit since anything can happen when you're a werewolf in Beacon Hills.  However, I'm hiking behind everyone so they don't see that my wound has started bleeding again and is bleeding through my shirt.  I'm sure they smell it, but none of them have said a word.

Theo's leading the hike with Scott right behind him.  I made sure to keep my distance from him, blood or no blood.  My body still reacts to him even though the emotional switch in my brain has been flipped.  There's just something about how his long sleeved shirt fits tightly against his body that gets my blood flowing in the wrong places.

"Where is he?" Scott asks, after hours of just twigs snapping.

Theo answers, "I thought we were looking for him."

"You know who I'm talking about."  Our walking speed has changed tremendously and it's a wonder I've not passed out from blood loss.

"Deucalion?"

"You shouldn't trust him."

"And you're the one who let him live."

I can hear the distaste in Scott's voice as he says, "I'm not a murderer."

"You still think you're gonna get through all this without killing anyone?"

"I didn't say that."

I finally, at least, catch up to Liam, but he makes it easy as he comes to a stop.  Theo notices the sudden stillness behind and then Scott does too.  I focus on Liam.

"We're close," he declares.

Scott asks, "You get his scent?"  Liam just nods.

"Which way?" Theo asks.  Liam hesitates and looks to Scott and I.  I shrug and look to Scott as well.  Scott looks to Theo and once Theo sees us looking at Scott, he does too.  He realizes what Liam's thinking and turns back to him.  "You think you're going to leave me behind?"

"Kind of," I mumble under my breath, but he hears it.  He slightly glares at me.

"Liam," Scott sternly says.

"Look, he wants to kill him," Liam defends himself.

"I just want his power," Theo reveals.  "You want to fight someone that actually wants to kill Mason?  Go fight Parrish."

"Who'd you see when you put on the mask?" Liam counters.

"I already told you.  It wasn't Mason."

"Who was it?"  Theo glances around at all of us who were expecting an answer.

"I saw a man dying in the snow.  He was impaled on a spear."

Scott realizes what spear he's talking about, "It's called a pike.  Lydia told us the story."

"Then you guys know what it means.  Time's running out.  Where is he, Liam?  What direction?"  Theo and Liam stare at each other for a moment before Liam glances at Scott who nods his head.  Liam reluctantly starts walking.

"This way."  He walks past the two boys and Scott immediately follows him.  Theo and I take a few seconds before we do the same.  I was trying to make him go ahead of me but when he stayed put, I was forced to start walking.  He matched my pace as we all followed the Beta.

"Don't touch him," I murmur to Theo, stepping over a log.  I try not to catch the attention of the boys ahead if us.

"Don't touch who?"
