"For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace andwell-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you. Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me andrequire Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and I will [free you and] gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’" Jeremiah 29:11 AMP
Jeremiah 29:11 is one of the most overused scriptures in the Bible, (along with Joshua 1:9, Philippian's 4:13, and Roman's 8:1) almost to the point you get tired of hearing and seeing it. Regardless of the fact it's on almost every church shirt ever, it's not any less true or any less inspired.
Jeremiah 29:11 has a beautiful message. No matter what crap storm we're going through, His plans are to prosper us not to harm us. He knows what He's doing even when we think He has lost His mind.
A month and a half ago a situation occurred with my biological family. This situation caused utter chaos to erupt in my life and forced me away from the Stein family and out of Victory Fellowship. At that point I was supposed to attend Winterfest with the Community Harvest Church of God (CHCOG) youth group 2 weeks from then. It had been planned for a year that I would go to Winterfest with them, but I had never met them. However, what happened with my biological family forced me into CHCOG, and 2 wees prior to Winterfest I met and began forming a beautiful relationship with the youth group.
During those 2 weeks, I was incredibly angry with God. Numerous times I laid on the alter screaming at God and crying out to Him. I couldn't understand why everything was happening. Now, a month and a half later, I can see that had God not allowed that to happen then Winterfest would have had a completely different outcome. Not only that, but I would still be running away from God's call into the Church of God. God was there in my storm, and His plans were to prosper me, not to harm me.
I can promise you that no matter what storm you're currently fighting your way through, God is there and His plans are to prosper you not to harm you. When the storms are raging and you feel like you're drowning and can't go on anymore, take His hand. When you feel like you're in a hopeless situation, take His hand. When you're wandering through a darkness that you just can't find your way out of, take His hand. Trust in this simple truth: His plans are to prosper you, not to harm you. Kapeesh?
Abba, Father, we take Your hand and we trust that your ways are to prosper us not to harm us. Thank You, Lord. Praise You.
