The Storm

"It hit you without any warning, the storm of your life had begun, seeing no hope in the distance, you're frightened and nowhere to run,
by now your vessel is filling,
and you're thinking that you'll surely drown, you cried out for help from the savior, and you know you cant give up now..."

As children of God, we so often find ourselves in a situation such as the one portrayed here. We have found ourselves in the storm of our life. Sometimes we don't even know what the storm is; all we know is that our vessels are feeling, we're drowning, and there's no where to run. It's in that moment when we cry out to the Master that He calls out into the storm and the storm ceases.

I know at least one person is reading this thinking, "well. I've been going through a storm for ___ amount of time and I've prayed and prayed but God hasn't delivered me." We have to remember that God works on His timing, not our timing. We can lay on the alter crying for a week, but we won't be delivered until God says it's time. The disciples were on the boat being knocked around by the storm crying out and Jesus was asleep down in the stern. That night on the ship they were on His time, not their own.

It's during those moments that we're being beat by a storm with no sign of Jesus anywhere that we begin asking, "do you not care that we perish?" He cares. He won't allow you to perish. He will wake and quiet the storm. We just have to remain faithful and know that He is God.

No matter what storm you're going through, God will deliver you in His own timing. Just remain faithful to Him. Continue to dig deeper into Him.

Abba, Father. You are Jehovah-Rapha, Lord that heals. Jehovah Shammah, Lord who's there. Jehovah Jireh, Lord who provides. Jehovah Shalom, Lord of peace. Tonight, I speak each of these names over my life and the lives of those reading. I plead the blood of Jesus over our lives. We trust you will bring deliverance in due time, because you are Jehovah-mephalti, my deliverer.

"On that day, when evening came, He said to them, "Let us go over to the other side."  Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
