1 Corinthians 1:9 - God [is] faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord
2 Thessalonians 3:3- But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep [you] from evil
Lamentations 3:23- [They are] new every morning: great [is] thy faithfulness
Deuteronomy 7:9- Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he [is] God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations
2 Timothy 2:13- If we believe not, [yet] he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself
I could quote scripture at you all night about God's faithfulness, but what good would it truly do? A dear friend of mine once taught me a life lesson; you don't always want Bible. There are times when even the most devout of Christians don't want Bible quoted at them. There are times when the most devout Christians don't want "thus saith the LORD." Sometimes, you just want a friend to be real with you.
Let's be real. Can we do that?
This life sucks. Life here on earth sucks. As long as we're on earth, as Christians, we'll often draw the short stick. (Don't take me wrong, keep reading.)
As Christians we will:
-Be persecuted
-Be mocked
-Be attacked by the enemy
-Suffer alienation
-Be hated
-Tempted
And the list goes on.A friend made the statement, "the Christian life is inherently risky. There's a lot of cons. But everyday that you live out God's will, the pros become far greater than the cons."
There is a pro that is constant throughout your entire Christian walk: God is faithful.
God is faithful through the persecution.
God is faithful through the mocking.
God is faithful through the attacks of the enemy. (And he is victorious over the enemy, I might add.)
God is faithful through alienation.
God is faithful through worldly hatred.
God is faithful through temptation.
God is faithful through all things.
God was faithful to Stephen when he was being stoned (Acts 7.) He looked up and saw a glimpse of Heaven in the midst of people beating him with heavy stones.
Noah was mocked by the people. They laughed at him when he told them there would be a great floor. God was faithful though. He put Noah and his family and all of the animals on the Ark and saved them from the flood (Genesis 5- Genesis 10.)
All 7 churches in the book of revelation suffer some form of an attack from the enemy, but God is faithful to allow them a chance to repent and overcome.
God was faithful to the woman at the well who had many husbands. She was alienated from all of society because she was lower than dirt by their norms. She was nothing more than a whoremonger. She was an adulterous and a fornicator. He was faithful to forgive her though. He did not cast her away as the rest of society did.
All of the apostles were greatly hated by the world, but God was faithful. When John the Revelator was exiled, God was still faithful. He showed Him visions of New Jerusalem. If that's not faithfulness, I don't know what is.
Even through temptation God is faithful. Jesus was tempted in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11.) He remained faithful to His Father, and now He remains faithful to us (1 Corinthians 10:13.)
Here comes the realness...
Hiding behind a computer screen in the world of cyberspace, I can seem perfect and like I have it all together. I don't. I'll be the first to tell you I'm not perfect and don't have it all together. I hurt. I have heartaches. I'm tempted. I struggle. I can promise you this though, God is faithful. He shows me that on a day to day basis.
So if you don't want to hear the scriptures, hear me. God. Is. Faithful. Through it all, God is faithful. Through depression , He is faithful. Through self harm, He is faithful. Through struggles big and small, He is faithful. He is faithful.
Abba, Father, thank You for Your faithfulness
