"But Ruth replied, “Donʼt urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.”
Ruth 1:16-17 NIV
The sad truth is, few people find their Ruth in their lifetime. And if they do find their Ruth, they don't cling tight enough to them.
Jesus is the firm foundation of your house, but Ruth is the Wi-Fi. Without Ruth you feel disconnected. You feel like you're missing something, but you don't know exactly what. There seems to be a vacancy that just cannot be filled.
With Ruth you can do anything. You can make the tallest mountain move. You can make the widest rivers part.
Ruth reminds you that there is still beauty in this world and that not all things are dark, even during the darkest of times. She speaks Jesus into your darkness even when you cannot. Ruth fights every battle right alongside you. She even fights battles you don't know about just to protect you.
Ruth sees your dirt, but recognizes the beautiful soul under the dirt. She sees your scars of the past, but loves you in the present and celebrates your future.
With Ruth you share many tears and much laughter. She isn't a "fair weather friend." You laugh on the sunny days and you share tears and cling tight to one another on rainy days.
You never wonder if Ruth will still be around tomorrow, for you know she will be. Come rain or shine she'll be right by your side.
If you haven't found your Ruth, you will. If you have found your Ruth, treasure her. She is a rarity. She is a friend you only find once in a lifetime. Too many people go through life without their Ruth, and it's their own fault, not Ruth's.
Treasure your Ruth, this is the truth God has spoke to me today.
Abba, Father. Thank You for placing a Ruth in each of our lives. You knew when You created us that we would need a friend by our side. A friend who would not leave us, even when we try to push them away.
