A New Transition

Identity

To know your true identity, you must first know two things. First being who God is.

He is:
Abba: Father ( Galatians 4:6 "because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" NASB

Alpha and Omega: the beginning and the end (And He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the one who thirsts I will give [water] from the fountain of the water of life without cost." Revelation 21:6 AMP)

El Shaddai: Lord, God Almighty ( Genesis 17:1 "When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless," ESV)

El Elyon: Most High God (Genesis 14:18 "And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High." ASV)

Adonai: Lord, Master (Genesis 15:1 "Some time later the word of Adonai came to Avram in a vision: “Don’t be afraid, Avram. I am your protector; your reward will be very great.” CJB)

YAHWEH: Lord, Jehovah (Genesis 2:4 "These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord JEHOVAH made the earth and the heavens," Divine Name KJV)

Jehovah Nissi: Lord my Banner (Exodus 17:15 "And Moses built an altar and named it, “The Lord Is My Banner.” HCSB)

Jehovah Raah: Lord my Shepherd (Psalm 23:1 "THE Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack." AMPC)

Jehovah Rapha: the Lord that heals (Exodus 15:26 "He said, “If you will carefully obey the Lord your God, do what is right in his sight, pay attention to his commands, and keep all his statutes, I will not inflict any illnesses on you that I inflicted on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.” CSB)

Jehovah Shammah: the Lord is there (Ezekial 48:35 "Round about it was eighteen thousand cubits ; and the name of the city from that day, Jehovah is there." DARBY)

Jehovah Tsidkenu: Lord our Righteousness (Jeremiah 23:6 "In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: 'The Lord is our righteousness.' ESV)

Jehovah Mekoddishkem: Lord who sanctifies you (Exodus 31:13 "Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you." KJV)

Jehovah Jireh: the Lord will Provide (Genesis 22:14 "Abraham named that place “The Lord Provides.” And even today people say, “On the Lord's mountain he provides.” GNT)

Jehovah Shalom: the Lord is Peace (Judges 6:24 "So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord Is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites." NIV)

Jehovah Sabaoth: the Lord of Hosts (1 Samual 1:3 "And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the Lord of the hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the Lord, were there." JUB)

To know what your true identity is, you must also know who God says you are.

He says:

You are a child of God (John 1:12 " But as many as received him—to those who believe in his name—he gave to them authority to become children of God," LEB

You are a friend of God (John 15:15 "I no longer call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I have heard from My Father have I made known to you." MEV)

You are justified and redeemed (Romans 3:24 "Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins." NLT)

You are sanctified (Jeremiah 1:5 "
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” NKJV

You are free (Galatians 5:1 "Christ has freed us so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom. Therefore, be firm ⌊in this freedom⌋, and don’t become slaves again." GW

You are an heir (Romans 8:17 "Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." NIV)

You are accepted (Romans 15:7 "Therefore, [continue to] accept and welcome one another, just as Christ has accepted and welcomed us to the glory of [our great] God." AMP)

You are chosen, holy, and blameless (Ephesians 1:4 "even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love" ESV)

You are a citizen of Heaven (Philippians 3:20 "but our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." HCSB)

You are a work of art (Ephesians 2:10 "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." NASB)

You are greatly loved (Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." NIV)

You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14 "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." KJV)

You are the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8 "Keep and guard me as the pupil of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings" AMPC)

You are His treasured possession (Deuteronomy 7:6 "Do this because you are a people set apart as holy to God , your God. God , your God, chose you out of all the people on Earth for himself as a cherished, personal treasure." MSG)

The Bible is very clear on who God is. It's also very clear on who God says we are. If God is who He says He is (which He is,) and if we are who God says we are (and we are,) then why is it that today's Christians have so many identity problems?

So many children of God struggle with knowing their self worth, how beautiful they are, how unique they are, how PRICELESS they are, ect. When you look around you see so many people who defile their bodies with alcohol, drugs, and other self destructive acts because they don't realize their own worth. They feel unworthy. You see countless people who suffer from eating disorders because they don't realize their beauty. Everywhere there are boys and girls trying to be like celebrities because they don't realize how unique they are. Purity is no longer regarded as a standard of living, because the young people of society give themselves away before they even have the chance to know what love is. They don't see how priceless they are. Today one of the most discussed and debated topics in society is gender and orientation confusion. NYC has 31 different recognized genders. Facebook has 71 different gender options. All across the country the statutes of marriage are debated. All because the children of God have neglected their identity in Christ.

We MUST begin applying these scriptures to our lives. Every morning we need to wake up and speak what God says about us over ourselves. We need to speak  what God says  about us over His children. There is power in reading the Word of God out loud. It is time that we start reclaiming our identities in Christ.
