Shake of your Chains

Lord, You are the God of deliverance. You hear my cried, Lord. You hear my cried and You speak peace into my spirit. Oh Lord, break away these chains. Break away these chains of sorrow. Break away these chains of guilt and shams. Break away the chains of fear. Break them away, Lord, break them away. I'm shaking off my chains. The chains are falling today.

We live in a society today that KS heavily bounded by chains. All around us we see people walking around in "hopeless" and miserable situations. Even believers are walking around like they have no hope and have nothing to live for.

Depression is on the rise. Teens are mutilating themselves. Every hour multiple teens either kill themselves or attempt to kill themselves. Chronic alcoholism and drug abuse are out of control. Teens who just want to find an escape from reality are shooting poison into their veins.

Sexual immorality is everywhere. No matter where you look you see teen girls pregnant, boys kissing boys, and girls kissing girls. All because they are chasing after happiness trying to fight their way out of the misery they are in, because they don't realize that they'll only find happiness in Christ.

You turn on the news and you see babies being aborted, people being murdered, and bombs being dropped. All because people no longer desire God.

This can all end though. You just have to break off your chains and rise up. You hold the keys in your hand, use it.

Break the chains of depression. Break the chains of anxiety. Break the chains of mental illness. There is only joy in Christ Jesus!

Break the chains of shame. Break the chains of guilt. There's no condemnation in Christ Jesus!

Break the chains of sickness. Break the chains of pain. There's healing in Christ Jesus!

Break the chains of homosexuality. Break the chains of sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery. Break the chains of idolatry and witchcraft, rage, hatred, discord, and jealousy. Break the chains of selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy, drunkenness and orgies. For the fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control!

Galatians 5:19-21 in the Message interpretation say, " it is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time; repetitive, loveless, cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness; trinket gods; magic show religion; paranoid loneliness; cutthroat competition; all-consuming-yet-never-satisfied wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to love or be loved; divided homes and divided lives; small minded and lopsided pursuits; the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival; uncontrolled and uncontrollable conditions; ugly parodies of community. I could go on. This isn't the first time I have warned you, you know. If you use your freedom this way you will not inherit the kingdom of God."  I love the way Peterson puts that. It truly captures what it is I'm trying to say. All this garbage is just pointless grabs for happiness. The wants of the world are going unsatisfied because they don't line up with the truth of Christ Jesus, and these wants are binding the world (believers and unbelievers) in life destroying chains.

So shake off your chains! Shake off your chains! Shake off your chains!

Oh, Lord. We shake off our chains. We claim deliverance in the name of Jesus Christ. We give you total control.
