The sky was grey and the clouds were dropping water onto the streets of London. I sighed to myself, "Whelp, good thing I have a hood!" I pulled the hood over my head and continued walking the streets. Rain here in England isn't anything abnormal, it rains all of the time. Most people just shrug it off and go inside, but with me it's a bit different.
I've been living on the streets for about a month or two now. I ran away from home. Strange things were happening at home; I would get mad and plates would break, or I would get really happy and the drawers would fly open. One time, I sneezed and my pillows exploded!
Anyways, I had no idea what was going on, and neither did my parents. They took me to all kinds of doctors and specialists. Nothing worked, they couldn't think of anything wrong.
Then those things started happening in public. My parents became super embarrassed, so they locked me up in my room. I couldn't take it, they treated me like a freak! So, I ran away...
Well, I ended up here now, and that's about it. There's nothing else left, nowhere to go, no one to see. I don't really know what the future holds.
I mean, my 11th birthday is in two weeks, August 22nd. It stinks that my birthday will probably be spent on the streets. But hopefully I can find somewhere to go before then. I could find a job possibly, but that's not gonna happen. I'm only 10. I guess I'll just see what happens.
~ Time Skip: 1 Week Later ~
It's raining yet again and I'm officially soaked. I'm sitting on the sidewalk thinking, thinking of the future. What's going to happen to me? I've been getting stares all day, as well as whispers. But, I guess that all comes with running away.
I heard the pitter-patter of wet footsteps approaching me. "Just another person to judge me" I thought. The footsteps stopped. I looked up to see a woman with big orange hair and a sweater. "Y-yes?" I say. "Hello dearie, what's your name?" asked the woman.
"My name's Emily East" I replied. Why did I reply so quickly? Because, I have nothing to lose. "What on Earth are you doing out here? Where are your parents?" she asked me. She genuinely looked concerned. I feel like I could trust her, I need to trust someone don't I?
"Well, um... about 1 or 2 months ago, I ran away from home. I ran away because... well... at home, some strange things were happening..." I told her, I told her all about how the drawers would open or the plates would break; I told her how my parents didn't understand what was going on and how they called doctors and specialists, afraid of what she might say.
As I was speaking, I noticed how she looked concerned and then slightly excited, but then concerned again. I could tell something was up by the way she looked excited.
"Umm... why did you look somewhat excited?" I asked her curiously. 'Oh, well, I think I can help you out Emily." she said. "Y-you can?" I asked. It's kinda crazy, a complete stranger who's name I don't even know.
"Yeah, I can give you a place to stay and a school to go to." she said. I thought about it. What do I have to lose? "O-okay, I'll go with you, thank you...um..." I said, not knowing her name. I didn't know what to ask.
"Oh, Molly Weasley dear, and you don't need to thank me." she said sweetly.
