Marie's POV

After my birthday, I was booked all summer. Some weeks I had vacations, others I was working.

School starts next week, and I'm kind of excited. It will be good to see all of my friends again. My public school system is a little messed up, so the "highschool" doesn't start until tenth grade. So now I'd officially be a high school student.

I made it into the women's honors choir at my school and I am beyond excited for that.

I really hope that nothing changes this year. Hopefully everything will stay just like this. It can't get much worse... right?

-----

November is almost over. School is in full swing and I'm loving it. Classes are hard, but it's really engaging.

Leo and I don't have any classes together, but we vowed to stay close outside of school. That hasn't exactly been working out, and I'm a little worried. I know it's probably just me being a paranoid girlfriend because Leo's so sweet. He would never cheat. But I have to admit, I miss him.

I had to stay after school for Acabella's rehearsal. It's the school's all female acapella group. This was different from the women's choir, but I'm in both.

We were getting ready for our first concert in December.

I walked into the choir room for rehearsal. The group leader, Hailey, stands in front of us and gets our attention.

"Hey girls, were going to start rehearsal in about five minutes. Oh wait--- hey Marie? Can you get my sheet music? I left it in the auditorium yesterday when I was practicing."

I nod to Hailey. This was my place as a sophomore, bottom of the food chain.

I walked out of the classroom and toward the theatre. It's very loud outside and I can see lights flashing.

I peek inside and it looks like the drama club is rehearsing for the fall play. I quietly go inside, careful not to disrupt.

I take a glance to see what's going on the stage, and I see Leo. He's a part of the drama club? He never told me.

I hide behind a column in the auditorium to watch. They aren't currently rehearsing but the lights and sound effects are being tested. The cast is just sitting around goofing around.

I smile as I recognize Josh, practicing lines by himself which is not a shock. A couple of my friends are there, and I watch them laugh and act out random parts from the show.

I look back at Leo and only then did I notice that he was sitting with a girl with his arm wrapped around her. My heart drops and I go cold.

They're laughing, and she's leaning into his shoulder.

I can't hear what they're saying, but my heart is broken to see them together. Tears sting my eyes, so I look around really quickly for Hailey's sheet music and find it by the piano. I grab it and bolt out the room.

I go back to practice, but all I can think about is that girl and what she was doing with my man.

New challenges, new friendships, and maybe new love? Keep reading to find out!
