Chapter 26 - Power

Marie's POV

I was totally dreading Monday because I knew that Jade would leave our lunch table to be with Nate.

Like all Mondays, this one felt like it was dragging on forever. Of course Physics doesn't help.

I walked into the class to see the whole room covered with nude photos of Mr Blake. Pictures with his girlfriend, with other girls, in pools, bars, you name it. He was quite the party guy. It hurt me to know that this was most definitely from Nate and Jade.

Nate sat in his chair with his feet kicked up on his desk and his hands relaxed behind his head. When Mr Blake entered the classroom and saw all of the pictures, he automatically looked for Nate.

"WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?" Mr Blake shouted at Nate.

"Why I'm Nate Thurber, of course." He said winking at Mr Blake.

But that only made him more upset.

"OFFICE. NOW." Mr Blake bellowed.

Nate got up and walked out of the room without saying another word.

And this is the guy my best friend wants to be with.

I thought that Nate would have been sent home for what he did, but he was at lunch later in the day. He sits with his weird buddies in the other side of the cafeteria.

I sat next to Leo like usual. He put his hand on my knee while I stared at the door, looking for Jade.

"Hey, don't worry. She'll be sitting here today. I just know it. Jade wouldn't miss spending time with you and Amelia." Leo rubbed my leg and I nodded.

Maybe if I told myself that enough times I would actually believe it.

I started picking at my salad again when I saw Jade walk in out of the corner of my eye. I immediately dropped everything.

Jade walked into the crowded lunchroom and her eyes scanned the room slowly. I saw he glance over at Nate's table and he winked at her.

I rolled my eyes. Ew.

Then she looked over to our table and smiled. Leo, Amelia, and I waved to her. I really wanted her to come sit with us so things can go back to the way they were.

After standing there for a few seconds, Jade slowly walked over to out table.

"See? I told you she'd come." Leo whispered in my ear and I punched him playfully.

Victory is mine.

"Hey Jade, how are you today?" I asked as she came close enough to hear us.

"I've been fine, thanks. I was actually wondering if you took notes in pre-calculus today. I need to take your notes because I have a test today and I don't have time to study." Jade asked pleadingly.

I was in shock.

"You're going to cheat?" I gasped.

"Don't worry! Nate taught me how to in a way that the teachers never suspect a thing and-" Jade was rambling on but I've had enough.

"I'm sorry but the Jade I know would never cheat. If you want notes so baldy, get them from your little bad boy. Oh wait, he doesn't do work in class because he thinks he can just sass the teacher and get out of things. I really thought you were better than this, Jade." I spat. I was absolutely furious.

"Me too." Amelia huffed. It hurt to see that even Amelia could see what was going on here and she wasn't even at the school when they broke in.

Jade looked disgusted with both of us.
