Marie's POV
As I had thought before, bringing up Ms. Ravin was a great idea because it gave Leo and I something to talk about.
Weeks went by, and we became friendly. I was happy where it was going but secretly hoping it would continue to grow.
There was only one person who sat between Leo and I, and sometimes I would lean over and smile at Leo. The guy in between us kind was also friendly with both of us, and he kind of caught onto what was happening.
I couldn't even believe that the school year was almost over. It was February and it has been months since we first talked at the book speed dating event. That was October. Man, I had to make a move.
Ms. Ravin (who I learned real name is Caroline) and I have also became close. We talk about Leo a lot and also about Hamilton the Musical, choir stuff, etc. She is super funny and tells great stories. She doesn't know about my crush on her brother, but that's ok for now. That actually helps a little bit because she tells be embarrassing stories about Leo when he was younger and some are really recent.
Ms. Reisner came back to school now, but she'll be leaving again for surgery soon.
I walked down the 600's hallway to get to my geometry class. I was right on time, so I opened the door and sat in my seat. It wasn't until then when I realized that my normal teacher wasn't there. It was Ms. Ravin.
She looked up at me. "Oh, hey Marie. What's up?"
"Not much," I replied, "ready for some geometry?"
"Honestly, no. Music is more my thing. I hate this stuff. But don't tell anyone I said that." She whispered to me.
I nodded.
The bell rang and class begun. Ms Ravin took attendance, and we got started on the little bit of work we had. Our teacher had only left us a worksheet for us to complete independently, which I did with five minutes of the period left to spare.
I took out my music theory book and began to read.
Psst.
I turned the page.
Psst. I heard it again.
I looked up. It was Ms. Ravin.
She beckoned me closer.
I quietly got up and went to her desk, hoping that no one was paying attention. I didn't want to seem like a teacher's pet, or anything.
"Are you in choir period 8/9?" She asked me.
I nodded.
"That's what I thought. Tomorrow, on Valentine's Day, Leo is going to come into class for our monthly performances by the students and he will sing a song. Then, the song will turn into him asking a girl in your class to the school dance. He's been really excited and Leo was practicing all day yesterday. This girl is going to be very lucky." Ms Ravin winked at me as the bell rang.
My face went pale.
Who could this mystery girl be?
