Marie's POV
I got my room ready for when Jade comes over. I started watching a few choir videos online when she knocked on the door.
"Hey, Marie." She said glumly and she sat on my bed.
"What's wrong?" I asked getting worried.
Jade started twirling with her hair and looked around the room. "Have you ever worried about the future?"
I got really scared about what this would be, but answered anyway. "Yeah. I mean, we're seniors. It only makes sense to think about college."
She nodded but there seemed like there was more. I could tell by the way her green eyes lost their shine that there was a reason she was asking. "I sent my application into FIT and a couple of other schools that I've been looking into. As much as I really want to get in, I'm worried about Nate because he doesn't seem to see anything in his future besides me. I just wish he had some ideas for career options so that we can start planning life after high school."
Wow. I had no idea how serious this was to her.
"Have you mentioned it to him? Maybe he has some ideas that he hasn't shared with you."
She nodded. "I did mention it. He said all that matters is right now, and that things will work out. But, how can he be so sure? I don't mean that he needs to go be a lawyer or a doctor, but just any plan would be fine." Tears started rolling down her cheeks for the first time in years.
I grabbed a box of tissues from my closet and and handed them to her. She muttered a "thanks."
After a couple seconds, I decided to share my experience with her.
"Although Leo and I both want to do something with music, we have never had the conversation over what he wants as a career. It's a little scary, but I have to trust that he will be responsible and come up with a plan for our future. We applied to a lot of the same colleges, but who knows what he wants to choose? I don't even know what we would do with a long-distance relationship."
This conversation made me realize how little we actually planned out together. That would be the next thing I would do.
"Thanks, Marie. I really should give him some credit. I applied early, but as long as he at least applies as an undecided major, I'll be ok. See you tomorrow."
Jade took her stuff and my tissues.
When she left, I was left with one huge question.
What does the future hold for all of us?

Marie's POV
Leo and I had Child Growth and Development class together along with Jade and Nate.
Leo didn't even choose it as his elective and was kinda bummed when he got it, but I convinced him that this would be another class that we would have together and that he wouldn't be the only boy in the class. I was personally excited to learn more about child psychology which would be important as a music teacher.
When Nate walked in late and saw Leo, he sighed in relief.
"Looks like we can power through this together, huh lover boy?" He asked smirking playfully as he sat down next to Jade and put his arm around her protectively.
Lover boy has been Nate's nickname for Leo ever since sophomore year when he met us and found out we were a couple. Then when he started dating Jade, Leo teased him back and now they have an odd friendship.
"Looks like it, hot stuff." Leo laughed and turned to face the front of the class because our teacher was getting ready to begin.
Mrs Sampson was a really nice teacher. She also taught Jade's fashion classes so Jade was her favorite student.
"Today we will be starting the flour baby project. You will be pairing up into partners and you will take care of the baby together. You must share the responsibility equally! That's what parenting is all about. You will have to make your baby and name it, make a scrapbook for him or her, and write a final paper. I will show you the steps to make a baby." She walked over to the supply closet.
Nate had his feet kicked up on the desk and took this moment to make a joke."Mrs Sampson, I think we all know the steps to make a baby. We have taken health classes since, like, sixth grade and we've all had "the talk". I for one have had some experience with the process and would be more than willing to show the class some techniques to--"
"That will be enough for the sexual references, but thank you for your concern, Mr Thurber." Mrs Sampson snapped.
Jade turned red and I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. But, she wasn't only embarrassed, but she was also angry at him. She slapped his arm and he rubbed it.
"Hey, J. I'm sorry, I thought it was funny." He apologized.
Jade had no time for his crap. "Yeah, I would apologize if I were you. Especially if you ever plan on using any of your little techniques on me ever again."
Everyone else laughed at that. Nate just sat there.
Once Mrs Sampson got a hold of the class again, she showed us how to make these cute babies out of sacks of flour or sugar and craft supplies. It was beyond adorable and I couldn't wait to make mine. Leo seemed excited too but tried to hide it because it didn't seem cool for a guy to like this class but he did. I think he would make a really great dad someday.
Each group was assigned a weight and number of babies.
Jade got preemie twins and we got one seven pound baby. We were allowed to choose the gender which was fun.
"I'll buy the onesie and I'll bring it in tomorrow. So, boy or girl?" I asked him, genuinely curious about which he'd pick.
Leo thought about it for a moment. I could almost see the thoughts go through his head by looking at him.
"I know I wouldn't be able to choose in the real world, but I've always wanted a little girl." Leo said. God, he is so cute.
"Me too. I'll buy a girl outfit and bring it in. She would probably have brown or my reddish hair." I started taking notes to make sure I bought the fake hair and big eyes.
"I want her to have your hair color and freckles." Leo said smiling as he played with my hair.
I blushed. "And your eye color." I insisted.
He nodded.
"What should her name be?" I wanted to make a fake birth certificate to put in the scrapbook.
"How about..." He thought for a minute. "Melody?"
Aww.
I heard someone fake throw up behind me. It was Nate.
"That was probably the worst name you could ever give to the child of two choir kids." Nate looked to Jade who was nodding.
"You two are the cheesiest couple ever. And I mean that." She said seriously.
I giggled. "How are your babies coming alone so far if you'd like to make fun of ours."
Jade smiled confidently. "Very well, thank you. And much better than yours."
"Really?" I asked, looking over at Nate.
Nate had flour all over the floor and his face. The whole area of the room was covered.
"NATE!" Jade yelled.
I couldn't stop laughing at them.
We are all going to be great parents one day. I hope.
