Chapter Twenty-one

Paul's P.O.V.

When I got to Sam's and Emily's, I walked in a bit angry. I think the pack noticed.

"Hey are you okay?", Jared asked

"Yeah", I said

"Hey, it looks like you came from Sabrina's house. What happened?", Sam asked

"She got hurt", I said

"Oh my, is she okay", Emily asked

"Yeah. But at some point, I am pretty sure a man named Valentine will come up but don't ask her about it", I said

"Why would this man just come up", Sam asked

"He is this bad guy from the shadow world and it might just come up", I said simply

"And why can't we ask her about him?", Jacob asked

"Because it will hurt her", I said, Jared was about to ask another question but I spoke before he could ask, "That is all the questions I will be answering", I said and saw Jared roll his eyes

"You know, your imprint is very difficult", Embry said

"I know", I said chuckling

---------------------------------Sabrina's P.O.V------------------------------------------

When I woke up, I got in some comfy clothes to take a run. I went downstairs and saw my mom going over some police reports with tea in her hand.

"Hi mom, I'm going on a run. See ya", I said and quickly left. I decided to run in the forest. I was running around and got bored so I decided to climb a tree. I was just thinking while I was sitting on the tree. I then heard scratching on the bark of the tree. I looked down and saw that it was one of the wolves. I jumped down and told them to phase back. I waited and then saw that they had phased back. It was Leah.

"Hey, I'm done with my shift and saw that you were here, sitting on a tree branch, why?", she said/asked

"I've been thinking. Hey, do you want to do something, just the two of us? You know, go shopping, go to eat, talk about how annoying Sam is?", I said/asked. She chuckled at the last one.

"I'd like that. Let me just check in with Sam and go tell my mom", she said and I nodded

"I'll come too", I said. We just walked in silence and then we heard a bunch of laughter.

"Boys, am I right", I said and she chuckled. We entered the house of laughter, but once we entered, everything fell into silence.

"I didn't know that you were coming, how you feeling?", Sam spoke up and I looked towards Paul's direction.

"You told them?", I asked him

"Only part of it", he said a bit scared. I then turned towards Sam.

"I'm feeling fine, thanks for asking", I said, he nodded and I saw him looking at the rune Valentine gave me, so I covered it up with my hair. I then turned towards Emily.

"Emily, Leah and I are having a girls' day, would you like to come?", I asked

"I'd love to but I have to make sure that the boys don't destroy the house", she said. Leah and I chuckled the boys looked towards us as if they were offended.

"Well we all know how boys are", I said causing Emily and Leah to chuckle. I saw the boys looking at each other

"Well we better go Leah", I said

"Yeah", we left and started to go to her house. We talked a bit.

"I'm sorry", I said

"For what?", she asked

"For your father", I said

"It's all right, it's not like you could have done anything", she said

"The boys never told you did they?", I said

"Tell me what", she asked

"I was there when he was dying. That's how the boys found out of me", I said

"My mom was invited by Charlie to go look for the huge wolves. The vampire acted too fast. My clothes got stuck on the bark of the tree I was on. When I finally got loose, it was too late. He was already dead", I said. Leah was shocked.

"I'm sorry", I said. She took a deep breath.

"It's alright, you tried, that's what matters", she said

"Thank you for forgiving me", I said, she gave me a slight smile

"We both don't have fathers. I just wish I was like you", I said

"What do you mean you wished you were like me?", she asked

"I mean; you have to deal with all of this when you are a teenager. I had to deal with all of this when I was six", I said

"You started killing the supernatural creatures?", she asked, shocked

"Well I started training when I was six, I started killing them when I was eight", I said she was still shocked

"I just have one question, why did you ditch your friends?", she asked

"When my dad was killed, my powers started acting up. My mom said I was dangerous and that I had to stay away from everyone. So she took me away for a year", I said

"Where were you that year?", she asked

"I was in New York at an institute for shadowhunters", I said

"Do you ever get gifts for your birthday?", she asked I chuckled

"Yes I do", I said

"What have you gotten?", she asked

"Weapons", I simply said

"Oh", she said

"Although. There was this time when my friend's father gave both his son and I a falcon for our birthday. He told us to tame it. To make it obedient. We spent every day with it. It would scratch us, make us bleed, but eventually, we earned its trust. We brought the bird to his father, to show him that the bird would come back to us. We thought he would be proud", I said

"But your friend's father was proud, right?", she asked

"No, Leah. His father took the falcons and snapped their necks. My friend's father told us strictly that we had to tame the bird, not to love it", I told her

"That's awful", she said

"But he was right. Ever since then, I listen to my head, instead of my heart", I told

"That's what makes me a leader", I said

"I would have cried to death if that was me", she told me with a smile and a chuckle.
