Chapter 16 - Trust

Diamond awoke with a sharp jolt. She put a hand to her chest and held her breath, trying not to make a sound.
"I must've rolled on the locket while I was sleeping..." She whispered to herself.
The neko looked around. Sapphyre and Lilly were still sound asleep in the cave. But JCc was no where to be seen. Diamond looked at the cave entrance.
"Maybe he needed some air..."
So she went to check outside.
"JCc?" She called quietly.
"I'm here." JCc replied.
He was sitting just to the side of the cave opening, staring up at the sky.

"Can't sleep?" He asked.

"No, I rolled on the locket and it woke me up..." Diamond answered.
"How about you, JCc? Why are you up?"

"I'm just worrying." He replied.

"About what?"

"The hate, your locket, the future."

There was a short silence before Diamond spoke up again.
"Want to talk about it?" She asked.
JCc hesitated but eventually nodded his head.
"Yeah."
Diamond sat beside him but JCc started to make second thoughts.
"I don't want to scare you..." He started but Diamond cut him off.
"I won't be scared, You can say anything. Just let it out, it'll be good for you especially with the hate." She said looking at the darkness that has begun to peek over the collar of JCc's sweater. They were lucky that the hatred was growing so slowly. Vamp's hate completely took over him in a very short amount of time. But it does help with the fact that JCc is much more laid back compared to the war-loving skeleton.

JCc took a deep breath.
"I'm just dreading the fact that only one person will live through these games... And I know that I won't be that one but I feel that I could cause deaths in this game because of my hate..." He said, clenching his fists.
"If I hurt you or anyone else I care about, I'll never forgive myself. And that locket of yours... What if it kills you?" The goat worried.
"I won't let that happen." Diamond promised.
"But what about me? What if I kill you?" JCc asked, looking down at his hate filled hands.
"That won't happen..." Diamond said.
"But it can happen! I can lose myself and I could kill you!" JCc exclaimed.
Diamond stayed quiet.
"I'm sorry I just don't want to hurt you..."
He said quietly.
Diamond didn't answer with words this time. She just turned and hugged him. JCc could feel his sweater dampen a bit at the shoulder from Diamond's tears.
"Don't say that..." She whispered.
"If the hate ever takes over and forces you to hurt me it doesn't matter. I'll know it's not really you doing those bad things and you'd do anything to protect me... So don't feel guilty if it makes you do anything bad..." She whispered, her voice shaking slightly.
JCc could feel his eyes water at the edges but he blinked the tears away and hugged the little neko back.
"Ok but... If I ever do lose myself then please kill me. Because you won't actually be killing me but you'll be saving me from the hate... Trust me on that ok?"

"Ok... I trust you."

Sapphyre awoke to Lilly shaking her shoulder.
"Lilly I'm trying to sleep... What the he-" She complained before quickly being hushed by Lilly.
"Shh! Follow me." She whispered.
Sapphyre shook her head then stumbled to her feet to see what Lilly wanted to show her. The two girls went outside the cave and saw Diamond and JCc sound asleep leaning on the rock wall.
"Omg... Diac moment!" Sapphyre whisper-shouted excitedly.
"I know right!" Lilly whisper-shouted back.
"Wait a second... What if they're dead?" Lilly wondered, taking second thoughts.
"Oh we better check!" Sapphyre agreed, creeping closer to the two.
"GUYS ARE YOU DEAD!?" The star guardian screamed in their faces.
"HOLY SHIT!" JCc yelled, jolting upright. Diamond also jolted beside him.
"FLIPPITY DIPPITY." She screamed. Everyone turned to stare at her.
"What the fu-" Sapphyre began to say.
"I'm too tired to question it..." JCc said, yawning.
"Why the hell did you wake us up like that?" He asked grumpily.
"We thought you were dead!" Lilly exclaimed.
"You could've checked if we were breathing..." JCc said, unamused.
"Oh I didn't think of that." Sapphyre said with a wink. Suddenly Diamond stood up.
"I'm hungry." She stated.

"Hi hungry."
"Hi hungry."
"Hi hungry."
Lilly, Sapphyre and JCc replied quickly.

"Wow." The neko said.
It was nice that the alliance could finally take some time to relax and joke around for a bit. Sadly this moment was cut short by the sounds of angry shouts coming from the forest. Suddenly one of the shouts became louder to be heard over the others.
"MARS SHUT UP AND LET ME KILL YOU." The voice yelled.
The alliance glanced at each other, they all knew who's voice that was. It was Saturn, the purple haired shipper. They all ran to where they heard her to go see the fight and find out if they could help.

Mars ran, zig zagging back and forth to dodge the tiny planets that Saturn summoned. She shot them at her rival with complete focus.
"Blade help me out here!" Mars called out to his blonde friend in his red hoodie.
"Alrig-" Blade started to say before he was tackled by Kittens.
"There's no way I'm letting you help THAT planet hurt my wife!" She exclaimed, her short brown and blue hair whisking behind her.

Suddenly Sapphyre, Lilly, JCc and Diamond emerged from the trees into the clearing they were all fighting in.
"Hey guys can you help me out here?" Saturn called, pointing at Mars in his distinguishing red clothing and hair.
"No help me instead!" Mars said, dodging another mini planet.
"And help Blade too, he's getting attacked by Kittens!" Mars called out, pointing at the two who were savagely fighting.
"I don't see any cats though!" JCc called back sadly.
"Not those kind of kittens! I mean our 'friend' Kittens!" Mars shouted back.
"Oh..." JCc said, obviously disappointed.
"Someone help my bae!" Saturn shouted, pointing at Kittens.

"Who should we choose to help?!" Lilly asked looking back and forth from everyone. Sapphyre made a face as if she were deep in thought.
"I don't know!"
