Chapter 21 - Lost Minds

Mars ripped Sapphyre's katana out from her hands.
"GIVE ME THAT." He shouted. Sapphyre froze but let the handle of her weapon slip from her grip. She didn't know what to think or do. It just seemed to happen. Lilly put a hand on Sapphyre's shoulder and gently pulled her back to get out of the way. Diamond and JCc also joined the little group. They all knew that this fight wasn't theirs. All they could do was watch.
"I don't want to look..." Lilly whispered, sick of having to see her friends fight.
"Can't we just stop them?" Diamond asked.
"I feel as if it would be wrong to... They both have a good reason to fight each other..." Sapphyre said.
"...And it's not of our business." JCc finished.
Diamond nodded and fell back into a sitting position.
"One of them is probably going to die right?" The neko asked.
JCc nodded.
"Should we grab some flowers?" Sapphyre suggested.
"No, that sounds depressing." Lilly said, shaking her head.
"Like my life-" JCc joked.
Diamond gave the goat a warning look as if saying: "don't."
JCc just shrugged his shoulders and they all say there in silence looking away from the fight, into the trees.

Saturn swung down with her axe, aiming for Mars' head. Mars quickly leaped and rolled to the side in a dodge and stood back up on his feet. He swiftly dusted some of the dirt off of his red t-shirt from his roll and held Sapphyre's katana out in front of him.
"Why won't you just stand still and die already!?" Saturn shouted in frustration.
"You killed Blade." He answered in a shaky voice.
"Well he killed Kitt-" Saturn broke off mid sentence. She couldn't even finish what she was going to say, the pain was too harsh on her. She could feel a heavy feeling on her heart. It was such a devastating sensation. Her one and only true love had died and nothing could bring her back. Saturn shook her head and thought of revenge. She needed to stay alive to get vengeance. Blade wasn't enough... Mars was friends with him and probably knew the whole time! They must've planned this... Saturn thought. She let her raging energy turn into the burning fire of hatred inside of her. She couldn't let Kittens die without a fight.

Mars saw a creepy look on Saturn's face. Her eyes were fixed onto his and her pupils almost seemed to darken. A small smile began to form across her face. It wasn't any regular smile though, it almost seemed to split into a maniacal expression and at that moment, Mars knew he was screwed. The redhead held his ground though. He knew that Kitten's death had traumatized the girl for life and it would be hard to find any small part of the old Saturn in this new, crazed monster.
She took a step closer.
Mars took a deep breath nervously.
Another step.
Mars closed his eyes.
Another step.
Mars opened them and he lunged forwards, catching Saturn by surprise before she could make a move. Mars swung the katana, hitting her in the side. Saturn yelled in pain but because Mars was close enough, she attacked. She swung her axe up above her head and in one swift movement she struck it down, aiming for Mars' head. Mars saw what was happening as she brought her axe up and quickly jumped to the side and rolled, dropping the katana.
"You've already used that move." Mars hissed.
"Shut up..."

Saturn could feel a searing pain like nothing before where the katana struck her. She held onto her side and collapsed onto the ground, looking up at Mars who had gotten to his feet. Blood showed from between her fingers and it began to pool below her.
"You're... a murderer." Saturn said with a wheezy voice.
Mars didn't reply. He just stood there, glaring down at her. Saturn sighed and let her head drop to the ground and she felt her eyelids begin to feel heavy. She let them close and as she did she saw a light with a glowing figure.

"Kittens?"

JCc let out a heavy sigh.
"It's been awhile... Should we check on them?" He suggested.
Lilly perked up.
"Wait, I think I hear footsteps! It might be one of them!" She exclaimed.
Everyone turned their heads and saw Mars coming closer. Blood stains camouflaged into his red shirt and his expression was dark.
"Is Saturn-" Sapphyre began to say but she didn't finish her sentence when she saw Mars' face.
"Oh..."
Diamond, who was sitting, leaned back. She tried to force a small smile without making it obvious that it was fake. She failed.
"Well at least we're alive, right guys?" She began to say.
No one agreed and a depressing silence washed over the group.
"Sorry..." Diamond whispered.

Suddenly JCc seemed to twitch a bit. His eyes went from half closed to blood shot and wide. He made a grunt noise and his chest rose up and down quickly as if he began to start hyperventilating.
"JCc, are you ok?" Sapphyre asked.
"Y-yeah I just... I'm going to take a breather." He said in a struggling tone.
Lilly glanced around nervously and Mars just ignored JCc. Meanwhile, Diamond fixed her gaze onto the side of JCc's head and began to panic.
"Dia what's wrong?" Sapphyre questioned, seeing that her twin obviously noticed something that no one else did. Diamond just pointed at JCc with one hand and clasped her hand over her mouth with the other. And to the groups surprise, the hate that was just at the top of his collar a moment ago, has now slithered up his head, reaching the top of his ears.

The sound of a slap echoed through the metal hallway of the Dark Figure's home.

"What took you so long with the mutts?!" The first girl's voice screamed.

"I'm sorry, I just-"

Another slap.

"I wanted those mutts out in the arena by now. Go prepare the... Dark Figure..." The first voice demanded.

"No please... I can't..." The cloaked girl pleaded, her voice quivering in pain and fear.
A smile from the first girl dimly glinted in the little amount of light that there was in the hall they were in.

"You don't have a choice."
