•Maybe we feel empty because we leave pieces of ourselves in everything we used to love•
When we made the promise the previous day, we didn't tell each other where to meet. And we didn't even have each other's contact.
So I came to school hoping Gabriel would be sensible enough to come here as well.
"Why are you waiting here? Aren't you going to class?" Brett asked as he arrived through the gate with Gemma. They always came together being neighbours.
"Yeah I'll be there in a while." I said absentmindedly as I looked around for Gabriel.
I had brought my backpack with me since I didn't know we were going to go after school or now. We were really bad planners. I cringed at the thought.
"Suit yourself. See ya later." Both of them said then walked away.
I pouted and waited for Gabriel as I kicked the pebbles on the ground. Suddenly my phone rang and I fished it out of my pocket to see that it was an incoming call from an unknown number.
"Hello?" I answered it.
"Uh hey Kramer." The voice from the other voice said.
"Gabriel? Where are you? I'm waiting at the school gates if you're about to go now. And how did you get my number?" I asked, confused.
"I'm sorry."
"Why are you sorry? Don't tell me you changed your mind and don't want me to come anymore. Its alright. I understand. I'm just a stranger and you realised you don't want me there with you."
"Wait. What a-"
"So I guess I'll just go to class and you can go visit your mother."
"No w-"
"I'll see you later then. Pay my regards to-"
"Stop talking! I fucking need you to come with me alright?"
I closed my mouth when he said those words and I realised I had been rambling like the fool I was when I was upset or nervous. It was good that he still wanted me to come, right? Why the hell was my heart beating so fast? Probably the nervousness that I was going to visit his mother's grave.
"S-Sorry. So why were you apologizing?" I asked with an awkward laugh.
"I was getting to that until you cut me off with your ramblings." He answered gruffly. I could literally feel him roll his eyes.
"Sorry about that. Go on!" I quickly said.
"I'm sorry we didn't get to plan it before." Oh. "And lets just say Mica Fletcher knows everyone's number."
"Mica Fletcher? Are you fr-"
"Lets talk about him later, yeah? I'll be there in 5 minutes. I was at your house." He mumbled the last part.
"Wait. How did you-Hello? Hello?" I looked at my phone and scoffed. He hung up on me. The nerve of him.
I put my phone in my pocket and waited for Gabriel to arrive. I had already asked for a leave so it was good news that they wouldn't call my father and ask him about my absence. I wonder how he was doing?
